I installed the

$289 ssr-610-40 | sumosprings rear for toyota tundra, toyota tacoma, nissan frontier, nissan titan

ssr-610-40 on my 2017 TRD sport that I have a canopy and RTT on. I would hit bump stops just going over speed bumps. Also loaded with camping gear down FSR's a would hit them. I measured after to lifting up 7/8 of an inch. I don't know what it would be without canopy and RTT. I think it rides much nicer now. Drove down a FSR today for the first time with them installed and it was a lot smoother.

 

I installed the 610-40s

Hauled my 5x8 utility filled with 5 cubic yards of compost and it handled the load like a champ. No squatting like before the springs...

Unloaded, you do forego some compliance vs stock over more significant bumps or whoops in the road. Since the SumoSprings are already resting on the leafpack, you can get a bit of bucking.

But the overall benefit still outweighs this compromise in my view...

 

Taco351. I read your article and looked at both of the pictures of the springs on your truck. Can you tell me what the part number is for the 4 doughnut set? The part number I have found is

SSR-611-40 thru suspension connection and it says it is only for a 2wd. The mounting bracket is different from the one in your picture. The outer edges of the bracket do not curve back up they are flat. The bracket is also taller which looks like it may put them at the same height as the 5 doughnut set.

 

The 610-40’s are stiff with no lift or additional weight, using the stock shocks. Having said that, I’ve had 1000+ in the bed (for short trips) and they’ve been great. The atv was in the back for 7 hours and it felt better than the stock empty setup. Below shows treated lumber using my hitch extender, 1/2 yard of gravel, 5 rail ties (200-300 lbs each), 4x4 atv (with compression pic)

 

wouldn't eliminating that stop plate on the frame make it run fine with the 5 ring?

Just finished a 1400mi tow trip with our car to Washington and back. I have the 610-40's on and the truck drove great! No squat, firm ride but not harsh. I have the trailer off now and the ride still seems fine to me. If you hit a bump, it's a little stiff, but much better than the same bump with the truck doing the watusi bounce without the Sumo's. They may have raised the rear about 1/2" but that's it (36 1/2" at tire C/L to fender). I also got a great deal on Amazon for $180.00 new.

 

My overland set up, which only goes on my 2018 OF DCSB when I’m camping, makes the back sag a little. As my daily driver it’s fine but off road it needs more height. Anyone off road with these? Slow, at speed?

 

Is sumo springs recommended if you have a wd?

 

I'm thinking of installing these to help with the added weight of stuff I carry when camping. I also tow a 17' Casita and invested in an Andersen weight distribution hitch. That has helped a lot but I think adding some sumo springs might be a good addition. I emailed Etrailer and they suggested the

I was going to try one more setting higher on the WDH but I think the springs on stock Tacoma's are weak even without a trailer. Curious to know what you think of Sumos with the WDH engaged.

 

Is that 20’ lumber? I need some 20 footers and wondered if if was possible to haul.

 

It’s 16’. Not sure I’d put the 20’ back there though. You’d need a good amount of ballast to keep them from tipping out of the back.

 

I’ve had mine for two and half years now. Holding up great. Supports the load well. When I jack up the rear end to rotate tires I get a pop noise when lowering the axel. I think the drivers side spring sticks to the frame.

 

After reading many reviews, and watching countless YouTube videos. I have decided to go with the

SSR-612-40 setup. The 612's have only 4 doughnuts vs the 5 on the 610's. I only want them to engage when I'm towing my boat. Running TRD Pro shocks with the Sumo's, I feel it will be a good combination for me. Will report after the install.

 

Hello, I’m interested in getting some sumo springs for my 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro. I have a 2 1/2 lift and wondering if anyone can help me get the right sumo springs with my set up. I have a leer top and a casita Travel Trailer that I will be pulling time to time. When I load the back of my truck with gear and hitch up I sag a bit. So my headlights beam other drivers and I get flashed quite a bit. I have deaver leaf pack and I measured from the top of the leaf spring to were the bumpstop hits it’s 6 1/8. Any help will be greatly appreciated . Thanks!

 

Thank you! When I go to the link it says it doesn’t fit my 2017 Toyota Tacoma? Do you have a model number? Or is this what you went with to fit the gap of your lift or setup?

Hello, I installed SSR-611–47 on my 2010 Tacoma 5 Lug to avoid the squatting. I have been experiencing some bucking after some speed bumps or other Los Angeles potholes and after reading this post, I’ll probably end up cutting the donut so the shocks can do their job
