Pelican, Plano or? I'm trying to shed some weight and I think I'm going to eliminate my chains that I've never used from the recovery gear I keep in a large ammo box. So I'll have a tow strap, tire repair stuff, small tool set of sockets and wrenches etc.

Plano seems to be the most affordable, but curious to hear thoughts.....

I use Plano 42" ones, and have them on for just a few months. They're ok, as if no complaints. They keep my stuff dry, so I'm happy! I've seen a few guys around NE use them without any issues.
Pelicans were/are out of my price range, but from whatever I've seen on another truck, they seem to be built "better", possibly thicker walls, and stronger hinges (guy had his recovery tracks bolted to the lid, opened the case and it stayed open without issues!)

    Good luck with your choice!

I also use a Plano case. Works well. And cheaper than Pelican.

Saving up money for the next one!
Plano also. Hinges are a bit flimsy but it does have two locking hinges and a few spots where you can use an external lock. Comes in several dimensions

My Plano buckled (buckled is a harsh word to explain it) in between my Prinsu bars, let VERY little amounts of water in. @Bastek looks to have a full flat surface to set the length of the case on to keep it from bowing. I will add flat plates or something under mine when I remount it later. I have it off and “flattening” back out and I’m sure it will be fine.

5.11 has theirs without foam for $99 on their website. Its made by SKB and appears to be of pretty good quality. Its the bigger size too which IMHO is the better choice. On my prinsu rack it looks much better than the shorter 1700 size rifle case. The only difference between it and my other pelican/storm cases is that the 5.11 does not have the latches on the ends. If you can live with that, the 5.11 box should work well. I'm still trying to figure out how I want to mount mine up there.
