I have my 2018 Tacoma just over a week now. I made one trip to Toronto this weekend and I have just over 1000 miles on it. Is this rust normal? Should I be worried about this? Should I contact the dealer and have it taken care of? No worries. Normal surface rust.
Have you done any rust preventative maintenance?

Not as yet, but I'm planning on getting a Krown undercoating done. I'd greatly appreciate any other recommendation on rust preventative maintenance :)

Oh and I'm planning to do the AC drain mod this week hopefully!

The stuff in the welds isn’t rust, the rest is. All metal can rust, but these Tacoma’s seem love to show early symptoms. Wait until what winter will do to the frame, especially since you live in Pa. Where I come from in Pa, they use a brine. Best to get some protection now. No one is fully sure the 3rd gens won’t have the haunting frame problems of gens past, but if you plan to keep your truck I’m sure you won’t want to find out. For that reason I made sure as soon as I got my truck I coated the shit out of it. Toyota did put some fluid film in the corners of the frame near the cradle where it’s more solid. But the rest of it is just the normal shitty powder coating or whatever they use that starts looking like shit after a few months in the salt belt.

You have to burn the truck now. Any surface rust on any metal parts requires a level of burning equal to a 4 alarm. Otherwise, we all might get infected .....

Some of that doesnt even look like rust. Some of that goldish looking stuff on the welds is probably not rust.
