    Hey all.

With only 3400 miles on my new 18, got hit with road debris. Gouged my front grill, sustained several scratches on the front passenger side fender, and pretty big ding on the front passenger side post, AND took out my mirror. Luckily no one was hurt.

The scratches appear to be able to be buffed out. I am needing to replace the mirror, but do not want to pay 300+ for a new one from Toyota. If I am going to spend that kind of money, I will turn it into my insurance company and pay the 500 deductible, and get everything done. I'm not really wanting to do that. The ding on the post is noticeable but not bad. So I am going the cheaper way first.

Any recommendations on replacement mirrors and a grill? I would love to install the ones with the turn signals, but definitely not necessary.

Well, if you’re not really worried about it, just replace the mirror at 300 bucks and buff the crap out of the scratches to make it look better. Grills now are a dime a dozen on eBay and etc. at all price points. I personally would pay the deductible and have it fixed like new to prevent further damage such as rust and etc.

The SR and SR5 don’t have hookups for mirrors with turn signals. Will cost more than a small house to have done, unless you’re savvy enough to do it yourself.

Sorry this happened. It happened to my Dodge Dart a few years back. A car kicked up a tire fragment and damaged my front bumper plastic. It wasn’t bad and was able to get out most scratches then put on a Bra to cover it up. But had it been the metal, it would have been in the shop.

If any of the scratching will catch a fingernail then it cannot be buffed out.
Hard to tell by the photos.

    God damn that sucks! Sorry!

Resist the urge to go with an aftermarket mirror if available. The price will be low, but the quality is usually junk. I went through 3 of them and all three shook like a Malaysian earthquake. Junkyard may be the way to go if you can get one that is the same color. www.car-parts.com is where I would look.
