    2015 Double Cab
Hi all, just bought my first Taco with the intent of building a capable overland machine. My prior experience is with track coupes and smooth pavement, so the learning curve is steep!

Over the summer I was fortunate enough to be taken along on a month long trek with some friends, and have been dying to do a proper build since.

The base truck is a 2015 Double Cab V6, with the short bed and TRD OffRoad package. I'm going to start with suspension, since this is the part I expect to have to research the most due to some needs I haven't seen discussed much.

The truck is replacing a yard beater/winter truck, which also served as my driveway plow platform (300' paved). I realize this is not ideal, but needs must and all that. So far I've determined the following needs:

    • The plow; weighs about 400 lbs. I've seen people have great success with simply fitting 620lb coils for just plowing with this truck to carry plows about this weight, which means if I plan to have a bumper and winch I'll need a bit more
    • I think about a 3" lift should be sufficient for the overlanding needs; I don't plan to be doing a lot of crawling, and this seems like a good middle ground to avoid having to do a lot of mod on the plow mount
I'm looking at the OME BP-51, but I've also seen many posts recommending ICON or FOX. Looking at kits from all of them, I'm having trouble determining the spring rates many of these lift packages include.

I also plan on doing uniball uppers, and possibly total chaos lowers, though I'm not sure if it's worth getting extension or sticking with stock length. It will be my winter grocery getter, but thankfully I don't have a commute, so a bit of a bias to adventuring is the goal here.

Whew, that's a lot for a hello! I promise to try and do my due diligence before making question posts, but be kind to a newb if you can!
