So I just purchased some Caliraised step-sliders with fill plates. (super stoked btw.... holy crap)

I'm thinking I'd like to paint the sliders black, and the fill plates as close to quicksand as I can get. From what I've read Rust-Oleum wrinkle finish works pretty well and is easy to touch up, but I'm having trouble finding a wrinkle finish quicksand-like color for it.

A few options I DID find:

    https://www.lowes.com/pd/Rust-Oleum...9358&cjevent=c66b3360cbcb11e880b000690a240611

    https://www.rustoleum.com/product-c...-bed-and-undercoating/truck-bed-coating-spray

    http://www.automotivetouchup.com/choosecolor/buypaint.aspx

The bed coating is enticing because maybe it has some texture but I know nothing about how close the color is. The khaki spray from Lowes was found in another thread and appears to be a lighter shade in color, but still very passable. Though I do wish it had texture to it. And then the automotive touch up paint is probably a close match but, again, no texture, and its $$$ comparatively.

Any thoughts on these? Or other suggestions?

Paint the entire thing with the bed coating and then paint the khaki on top where you want it. Then you get the texture with the tan.

Its a good idea. I thought of that last night before I went to bed and decided its most likely what I'm going to do.

Finally got some Prinsu racks during their flash sale. Only had time to put the one on my shell before leaving town for work.
This one was an easy install, but I'm dreading having to drill the holes in my cab for the other one when I get back. :sawzall:

You’ll be closer to my twin after the cab rack install! I was nervous about installing mine too but it wasn’t that bad. The advice I give for the rack is to abandon the rivnuts it comes with and just use through bolts with nylon locking nuts and fender washers. I bought the tool for the rivnuts practiced and still couldn’t get them to seat right. So to avoid an issue down the road, I just went a different, safer route. I’m glad I did. Zero concern and no leaks at all. Don’t be worried about drilling holes. After the first one, the anxiety is gone. Just take your time lining it up and marking your holes. And I highly recommend dropping the headliner. It is time consuming but not hard. Good luck!

Edit: pic from when I completed my install.

Nice, thanks for the advice. Didn't even think of not using the rivnuts! They sound like a pain in the ass

They were for me. Most people didn’t have any issue with them. Can never use too much silicone, too. It’s easy to clean up excess compared to tracing a leak and adding more later! Also, since you have your shell rack already on, use that to align your cab rack. I used a measurement from the access cab prinsu install thread and it’s just a little off level from the shell rack. (Front is a little higher than the rear) Hard to notice but I wish I went off the shell rack as opposed to the measurement someone else provided. Good luck!

Took off the FN Pro’s dark gray gloss, Nitto G2’s 265/70R17 and slapped on the FN Pro’s bronze and Nitto G2’s 285/70R17....no rubbing with mud flaps so far.
