My first service is coming up (5,000 miles) so I went by my local dealer and made an appointment. Gave them my VIN and all my information, they asked if I bought the truck from them. Nope, bought it out of town. They then tell me even though I have Toyota Care and Toyoguard that I might have to end up paying the difference for some services. For instance say a "free oil change and tire rotation" I'm supposed to be covered for, for the forseable future, I might have to pay the difference because not all dealers charge the same? The hell you talking about, Willis? I thought Toyotacare was free no matter where you bought the truck? Same with Toyoguard? His example was "say the dealer you bought it from charges $70 for services but our charge is $83, you have to pay the difference of $13". Anyone ever heard of this crap?

I would get his name then I would then tell him I will call Toyota 1800 number and inquire if this is even possible .

Dumbest shit ive ever heard. Toyota Care is thru Toyota, not a dealer. I have never heard of Toyoguard so i cant speak to that part.

Also id like to mention that the toyotacare oil changes are only every 10k miles, not 5k. That may be what they are trying to charge you for.

Thats bullshit. Go to a different dealer.

Or just go to your own shop.

I never did the Toyotacare services. I don’t want a dealer touching my truck unless its for a potential warranty issue.

He may have thought you were talking about prepaid oil changes. Toyota care is free at all authorized Toyota dealers.
No idea what toyoguard is though. That may have been a dealers own marketing thing unless that's what they call the extended warranty and I havent noticed. If it's the second item then yes it is valid at all dealerships.
