Hey guys. Pulling my 5vz this weekend to fully build it with everything forged i can find on LCE and anything else i can find anywhere else. Stock motor and 20psi lasted 4 months at 415whp before i went to retune on a bigger turbo and spun a rod bearing. ((Anyone know what the current record for a stock block 5vz is?)) I’m going with a custom single piece driveshaft and some street slicks to hold it to the ground.

First off, does anyone know where i can buy a forged crank or if the stock one is forged? I’ve heard mixed replies.

Second off, what would y’all do about a rear axle? Not sure what the stock 6 lug can take but I’m sure it won’t like 550 whp for too long....

Thirdly, are there any other weight reduction/ horsepower boosting/ safety precautions/ i should be considering? And is there anything that is a “must have” for a built 5vz that isn’t on LCE?

Looks like they discontinued the crank. You are best to call LCE and see what they can do for you.
That stock axle isn't going to like launches. Probably get a traction bar going. Once you blow up that rearend you'll probably need a custom 9"
r series manual transmission can take abuse for a while.
Also fully fabricated motor mounts really helped me out. ESB fab makes some sweet bolt in mounts.
These trucks are pretty light to begin with. You will probably be adding weight to help firm up the frame. Gut the cab or drop your motor into a single cab.

I know of a 5vz in a single cab that's running 22psi with forged pistons only. Been 11.1 in the quarter on stock trans with a shift kit, stock converter, rear end, and slicks. I believe it's lasted a few years on the same motor drag truck only. My truck does a high 12 in a quad cab weighing in at 3490lb (3680 with me) on street radials, 2.09 60' and no tractions bars (don't need one with street tires)

The 3vz-fe (think Camry, NOT truck motor) has a forged crank that swaps in directly.

I'm guessing full standalone at those power levels?

They were low compression pistons- apples to oranges
