We used to get free light bulbs from Detroit Edison, just bring in the old ones. They didn’t like you not using the electricity.

My TW namesake, Robert ("Boy" to the alum at Grinnell College) Noyce would speak at Trade shows and conferences in the late 50's/ early 60's trying to get people to recognize the importance of transistors (later integrated circuits/ semiconductors).

Part of his pitch was something along the lines of "someday you will have a TV in your pocket and a computer on your desk top"- to which the usual reply was "why would I need those things?"....lol

I did an essay in a college business class describing something very similar to the FedEx business model and got a C because the teacher thought it was so ridiculous and far fetched.

Putting plastic bags , from Sears, on your feet. Then put your boots on, now they are waterproof. Bear grease just made them water resistant.

When “breaking in Levi’s “ took months. God forbid if you washed them with anything else.

I always thought the Leave it to Beaver family would have been a nice place to grow up. My mom had a job and my dad was an alcoholic. Not a bad childhood, just not tv worthy. It might be now.

My dad would make me mow the front lawn twice, at a 45* angle. One pass, then one more at the opposite angle. Looked like a golf course. Our mower was a Rio rotary, I was scared to death of getting something like my foot caught in there. That lawn seemed huge then, it was maybe 20’x 40’. I sometimes mow mine the same way, but not with the “ death machine “

My parents had twin beds, like on the Dick Van Dyke Show. You didn’t want anyone thinking you slept together and had S#X, babies came from a stork.

Was watching an old rerun of Maude a few months ago. Maude received a small transistor pocket calculator as a gift. She and her friends were amazed....and kept referring to it as a "mini computer"...instead of calculator.

Gotta hit the sack. That damn 3:30 alarm hits hard. I leave you with is.
