That's probably one of the worst frame cracks I've seen from this extended warranty program . I just got my 07 Tacoma frame replaced at the dealer here in Charleston SC for a half inch wide rust hole. The frame replacement program is for ALL US STATES, and the loaner vehicle is supplied for FREE, the frame has to have rust damage 10mm or bigger. Important thing to keep in mind, The program only applies for Tacoma's that the "In service date" is not more than 12 years. Check your door jam sticker, My truck is a 2007 but the "in service date'' was Oct. 23rd 2006. That means if I had waited until past Oct. 23rd 2018 this year to get the frame inspected I would've been screwed  it’s hard to believe that they won’t cover that crack in your frame, that looks like rust or a bad weld from factory I would be calling corporate Toyota. I would find another dealer, and also contact Toyota as long as you are still within the 12 years in service it should be replaced!
My hole looked like a missing weld on the front gusset by the tie down. Really didn’t think it would be as easy as it was!
Super pleased with the work done and the dealer and I are in the works for replacement of the drivers axle needle bearing.
Seems different dealers either figured out how to make money on it or they haven’t.
Mine jumped at it got me in early gave me 17 Taco while it was being done. 10 days at the dealer 2.5 days to do the swap. Drives like new rides and handles like new! Just got that needle bearing noise. Don’t remember it before but maybe it was there. It’s a 08 with 170k so probably not related to the swap.

Lots of dollars and no sense...

It took 10 days from picture to approval.

    My fail!
The guy took a pic asked me if I wanted a loaner. Told them id keep my truck he says we will call when your frame is in!! 2 months they call for me to bring it in today! Ok sure, I was home but it was like 100 degrees and 98% humidity. Cleaned out the inside removed avid bars and extra lights sub and cameras. Cleaned it and pressure washed underneath.
Got it back clean with a new frame.
I know the tech by name
And he was more than happy to show me the progress.

Alright well called corporate and talked again to the dealer afterward it sounds like they didnt really know who to send the pictures to so I gave them my case number and they’d said that they would call and find out where to send them. If not then I’ll just go to a different dealership plenty in my area. Corporate checked and said that i am covered by the extended frame warranty until August 2019 so it’s not that. The dealer just said the rust didn’t fail inspection for whatever reason. Said they’d call me back when they’ve talked to the district manager that they are supposed to be sending the pictures to.

Contact Toyota Customer Service. They've been able to help in cases like this.

I waited 3 days from the dealer's inspection failing the frame until Toyota HQ approved the swap. Then it took 2 1/2 months to get the frame, during which time they gave me a brand new Tacoma DC to drive.

I did they said that the dealer should contact a regional rep, so I wentt into the dealership again and they said that they didn’t know who to contact and that they will take my case number and call to find out. Crossing my fingers that it works out

The date on the door jam is the manufactured date. The "in-service date" is the day you drive it off the lot. Example: my door jam says 6/30/06, but my "in-service date" is 10/2/06.

That makes sense. My dealer told me differently, but they could also had been mistaken. That’s good to know tho, gives people a bit more time for the warranty program.

You guys think mine would be a candidate for a frame replacement? Its an 05, by it saying the latter of 12 years or January 31 2019, does this mean I am still covered until 2019 or am I SOL since its past the 12 years? I had it inspected back in 2015 and they said it was fine..yeah ok. Going to take it back since I got anther notice in the mail saying its been extended again.

    Damm!
    That’s pretty crispy.
Copy that letter you got and get it in. I would show them the letter before letting them inspect it to make sure it’s covered.
Here in VT it wouldn’t be allowed to leave as is.

Hi, I'm new to TW and live in ft. collins. Pederson is replacing my frame on my 07 tacoma 4x4 DC sport when it comes in and I was wondering where you had yours done. I also found this https://fortcollins.craigslist.org/pts/d/2017-toyota-tacoma-trd/6719219687.html and was wondering if this will fit mine. thanks for any info you can give me.

I just got an updated letter yesterday in the mail and the wording has been changed to "the coverage parameters have been updated to "12 years from the date of first use or january 31 2019""

"or January 31 2019" is the new wording added since my last letter. I take it as it would be covered up until 2019. It was pretty badly rusted when i took it in 2015 and they denied the frame replacement but i dont have any pics. Theses are pics i took a few days ago when i was preparing to do a trans drain and refill. I tow from time to time and drive my family in this thing and seeing what i found makes me feel pretty uneasy about both. Who knows whats hiding in places i didnt look.

Yep despite the fact that my frame CRACKED from the rust and my engine is sitting sideways because of it they said truck is fine and tried to blame it on something else. Their argument was that the crack didn’t have enough rust to qualify but it was DUE TO THE RUST. I mean come on if this doesn’t count as a rust perforation I don’t know what does. Honestly it felt like they were just trying to weasel out of the work, the inspection was awkwardly short and then after I called corporate, (who made me feel like a liar) the dealership said they didn’t know who to send the pictures to and that I should give them my case number and they’ll call. Well I called today and they just straight up said it doesn’t qualify. I’m pretty steamed just going to try another dealership I guess. I'm no lawyer but in sum it means that you let someone off the hook for a certain thing.
Example: You own a soccer field. I play soccer on your field. I roll and break my ankle. I could sue you because it happened on your property. That's where the waiver comes in. Once I sign it your liability is gone.

The first picture you uploaded should get you a new frame. Has your Tacoma lived its whole life down south because that is pretty bad for the weather you get?

Has anyone else received the paperwork
No, its originally from the chicago area. Ive only owned it for a little over 4 years. But I was thinking the same, that first pic is bad. I was unsure if it would qualify since it wasnt part of the main side beam of the frame and what looks to be more of some kind of bracing on the frame.
