Look under the front and see if there is a big black sway bar attached to the lower control arm or not. If it is, then you have KDSS, if not, throat punch incoming

    When I was in ATL yesterday, I was upgraded to a T4R- SR5. Loved the higher seating position, but not was not used to the softer ride. I think I am too used to my Icon/Dakar/KO2 set up. Would totally get one- just had to get used to.

    By full retard you mean SAS? I did a 3” lift and 285’s on both my 4Runners and it worked for what I used it for. I’m not out rock crawling with it either as it’s my DD so KDSS was a must have

    KDSS is already almost 15 yrs old. I don't see all the hype about it. It only activates off road when a tire drops below a certain point.

    And no...it’s a mechanical system that works all the time. While it does provide a little more articulation off highway it also reduces body roll in cornering or evasive maneuvers as well as lessens nose dive in sudden braking.

    I suppose if you hit a big enough pothole, it might set it off. More stuff to break. Hydraulic hoses and cylinders.

    Kind of wish I waited on my 18', been eyeing the Silverados.

    More room would be nice and for 42k better seats was expected. Wish I could've took it for a longer drive before I got it, they suck.


    Yesterday i was playing on the job site and got stuck. It was teetering on one front and one rear, i have the offroad but couldn't get it into low to use atrac or the locker. Just used 4 hi with slight popping of the third pedal.

    I was outraged, 1st gen has never had a problem and its going on 16 yrs old.

    If the hydraulic pressure is equal in the system..kdss does absolutely nothing.
    If your cornering at high speeds in a t4r, then yes. And yes, it is mechanical....controlled by hydraulic hoses and cylenders.
