Boy am I glad i have a truck now, some idiot rear ended me cause "the light was green and I didn't go"...it was hard for me to go when the guy in front of me didn't go  any-who no damage on my back bumper, not even a scratch but she has a ruined grille along with a trailer hitch impression on her bumper.

I have to say I was impressed, I got rear-ended in a similar situation with my old chevy s-10 and they're was a decent amount of damage to the bumper.

The opposite is suppose to happen in modern vehicles, albeit in more serious crashes. The vehicles is suppose to crumple a lot more than older ones ever did to help absorb the energy of the impact. That's how they design them now.

I have the sparebumper.com step in my receiver. Its a typical tube step but with shock absorbing rubber collar. Sure crumple zones are good for saving you in the big hits but minor traffic bumps shouldn't cost you thousands like they can now. I've had both of my Tundras bumped at lights and the steel bumpers bent/shifted on the frame, so I can imagine what would happen to this minimal plastic shrouded Taco bumper, and the tailgate.
