Hey guys, haven't been here in a while, but hoping you can help me out.

I need a new battery for the truck. Currently I'm running a Group 27F Optima Yellowtop. Been a good performer, had it around 5 years, but it's getting weak with voltage drops when the bass hits. I have a stereo with a 160A current draw at max. I have a 250A alternator which checks out as good still, so it has to be the battery.

3 things, I'm in Canada, so availability might be different. I can get another Optima for about $350CAD. And I need deep-cycle/starting, don't want to mess with a second battery somewhere.

So, I'm hoping for suggestions, or advise will work too. Thanks.

would you consider a capacitor to protect your next battery? it will create an amperage buffer so bass hits won't draw from the battery, and it also keeps your lights and stuff from dimming during high output moments.
