Performance chips are, and always have been, a joke and a waste of money.

You have a 2.7. It is what it is and no matter what you do to it it won't get any better. Supercharging which has already been mentioned is the only way to get more power out of a 2.7. You get a 2.7 for stone reliable transportation. Nothing else.

Well, one thing most manufacturers are doing with their 4-bangers is turbocharging. From BMW's and others. Perhaps if we started asking turbo manufacturers to look at us, they might start developing something.

I’ve heard that the sprint boosters/pedal commanders actually help a little. I just sent my diff off to get regeared for more low end power

As usual, I missed something. What manufactures make a hair dryer (turbo) for our 2.7 4-bangers? Are they a complete kit, or do we have to shop around for hookups?

There's a "kit" but I use that term very loosely. OzBoost makes it, and it's absolute trash except for the manifold and downpipe, which through some tough work can be bought directly from the supplier on Alibaba.
Everything else is pieced together, and tuning is on your own. I seriously don't recommend it unless you know a lot about your motor as well as how to self-tune with standalones or piggybacks.

With that said, I love having mine boosted! It makes it much more enjoyable to drive, and being able to spool up next to someone is always a treat to watch their confused faces lmao

Mega squirt is a stand alone tuner. It has a lot of options and it is easy to install

This is true, probably haven't encountered too many, seems like there's less 2.7s running around each generation.

How about better throttle response? Any one have real experience with some thing that works. Not looking for a revelation just something more appropriate for a 4cyl manual Toyota. Shouldn’t be too hard to get an accurate and responsive pedal. Or is it?

Mine already is super responsive, can imagine what would be holding you up there. Maybe a sticky TPS
