    Hi folks,

Soon to be new owner here of a 2016+ Tacoma double cab 6ft, AT, OR. Hoping to get a slightly better deal by waiting until early next year.

I've saved up over the past 10 years and looking to check out of the rat race for a while, renovate a vintage aluminum shell trailer with a buddy of mine, do a bunch of camping, reading, and living.

My plan is to putt around national park roads and occasionally use as a towing vehicle for a mid sized trailer (< 5k loaded).

Hoping to find a hard shell that I can sleep in for a a while as I work on the trailer. Really digging these ARE caps. My feeling is that if I want to use the bed as a sleeper cabin I basically have to go with a 6ft bed. I've seen some hacks to convert the 5ft bed + lowered tailgate into a decent camper. Not exactly stealth. Anyone have thoughts on this?

Happy to be a part of the community. Would appreciate feedback on any of this.

    - JC

PS: Photo isn't mine. Just some inspiration for where I'm headed.
