It's a curious omission that every other truck in the world has. Corollas have it for crying out loud.

    Geez.

For the record, my ‘15 Cayman GTS has full manual seats. Not a low MSRP car and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

My Taco? Wouldn’t complain if it came with them and don’t complain that it didn’t.

Some people dual drive their cars and the auto memory features are really nice. Particularly for the guys so they can get the seats back in the exact spot the wifey had them.... to avoid that inevitable week long gripe while they figure out where they want it again.

The point is it's a reasonable expectation, not a requirement. The Limited should have power seats, it's inexcusable to call it a luxury model of any sort.

The problem lies with the aging body from 2005 and lack of change in the structure. It saves money and keeps production costs down.

Some may see this as a "problem", others would appreciate it as a positive.

I would rather have the 3rd gen high strength steel in the cabin than height adjustable seats any day of the week.

And.... lots of things would be "nice" to have, but actually having them just frees up your desire to want more.

Pretty sure that's the way it works....if you are so inclined.

The same people who complain there's no power seats would also complain about the rising cost of there mid size Tacoma.

Truth? Because Americans are cheap asses (myself included). We don’t want to pay for anything. In other parts of the world they are much more willing to pay a premium for “upgrades”. Obviously this is a stereotype. But in my experience at my job making products that were sold worldwide, consumers in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand would pay nearly 20% more for the same product and would buy premium versions more often than American consumers.

That sounds reasonable, they seem to be standard in every vehicle, except light weight sports cars. .

In product development, we figure out what the highest retail price the customer will pay. Then we figure out the must have features. The features are ranked. Features are added until the total cost of the product exceeds the target cost (after which we just aren’t making money). Each part of the world has a different allowable retail price and different required features. Layered on this, each part of the world has different legal safety compliance standards for the design of a particular product. Example, electric tools, appliances, electronic devices, etc in Europe need EMI suppression components that we don’t require in North America.

Point is, they probably have a higher retail price in EANZ or power seats might have made the cut. Or manual seats might have been a deal breaker for customers. It’s also possible that, EANZ considers power seats a safety feature and now requires all mid-size truck to have them.

damn I thought we were buying rugged trucks not princess parade vehicles. It's a fucking seat adjustment who gives a rats ass just give me a sturdy truck that outlasts every other car on the market.

A power seat is about adjustment, not cool factor. If it had power seat's, I wouldn't have had to get a non premium truck because my head rested on the headliner with the sunroof option.

If you need a truck with power seats, buy a truck with power seats. It should have been obvious the Tacoma didnt have them the moment you climbed into it for the first test drive.

My first three Toyota trucks had bench seats so having split buckets with independant adjustability is a treat for me.

I agree power seats are stupid in a Tacoma and totally unnecessary. Having said that the 2020 refresh of the Tacoma will have power seats for those who absolutely have to have them for any serious off roading.
