006FA2DC-49F3-4F17-A627-158367029940.jpg Truck Covers USA hands down. I have the American Rack version and it’s about as solid, secure, and dry as it gets and easy to open/close as well as snap on or take off racks at any time

More details on this setup please.

Are the bike racks an add on option from truck covers Usa? Or are they something else you fabbed up?

The American Rack version has Yakima tracks welded onto the siderails and comes with towers and a pair of roundbars. Then you’re set up for any standard carriers. Those are Yakima Frontloaders and I have Thule racks and mouth a kayak on both sides and mount paddles and bikes while keeping the bed free for dry storage

Hey, I just saw this thread.

I have a like new, slightly used, American Rack cover for a 2014 double cab, with the Yakima tracks, that I took off my truck and will be selling soon. It's really well made, but I needed to go in another direction for my job.

If interested, get back to me and I can give you more details. And FYI, I don't want to ship it and I'm in Northern California.

As other members have stated, the Truck Covers USA American Roll is a great quality cover, one of the most heavy duty I sell. Powder coated, textured semi gloss, aluminum slats can hold 500 pounds on top, and they have one of the smallest canister in the industry at just 8x8". If your primary concern is durability, the TCU is a excellent cover. You can add the Yakima T-slot rails to the cover as well, to accommodate Yakima landing pads and cross bars. Another option would be Retrax One or Pro. Both are also USA made, can lock in any position, springless canister and use sealed ball bearings allowing smooth operation without the need to grease or oil the rails. The One is a polycarbonate top and can hold appropriately 200 pounds on top, and the Pro is going to be a double walled aluminum that can similarly hold 500 pounds on top. They just released their new model the XR series which incorporates a t-slot into the rails of the cover, kind of similar to the TCU. The Retrax Pro has a lifetime warranty too. You also have Pace Edwards, which offers a similar split as the Retrax. The Jackrabbit and Full Metal Jackrabbit. The full metal is a double walled aluminum which can hold 500 pounds, where the Jackrabbit is an aluminum base and a padded polymer top, and can hold approximately 200 pounds. Pace Edwards use a spring canister, which means when released the latch, they'll retract themselves into the canister and you have a pull cord to close it. They can lock every 12" to give you partial bed access like the Truck Covers USA.

Did you have questions between a couple of retractable covers or brands and I'm happy to compare them for you.

I'd also add that the customer service from TCU is superb. I've called them a couple of times about various things and they were always super helpful. For example, I called and asked them for a recommendation for touch up paint where I had scratched the powder coat in a couple of places. They didn't recommend anything, they sent me a bottle of their touch-up paint at no charge. I asked them about maintenance - namely about keeping the canister clean after over a year of use, they send me new plastic caps for the screws that hold the canister lid on "in case I scuffed them up removing them"

Really good folks at TCU so that combined with the strength and quality of the equipment, I have no doubt this will last the life of the truck.

I had a roll-n-lock on my short bed. Absolutely loved it. Got it on Craigslist for $540. Ended up selling it for more then I paid for it to fund a topper because I needed the extra dry storage.

I like my retrax.... had one one my F150 and Silverado prior to buying Tacoma, and was my only choice. C50CD589-0066-477E-B325-D21721A73463.jpg

Thinking about this cover or a cheaper roll up again. Have plenty of time to decide as I wait for the warranty refund check for the CR-V I'm trading off. I know I won't go the TruXedo Lo Pro route this time. ;)

I'm nothing but pleased with my BakFlip Revolver. The only issue I'll say is that it can be a little funky with snow and ice. The track system needs to be clean of snow and ice to work but there are a lot of toneau covers that don't play well with snow and ice. I would imagine the folding covers would be better for snow but I've never owned one of them so I'm not sure. My Gen 1 had one of those that you had to stretch and snap over a side channel and if I had to open it during the winter I would have to bring it into my house and warm it up before attempting to put it back on.

Yeah I won't have an issue with it staying closed all winter.

    None yet, here to learn
Hi Kyle - I'm looking for a tonneau cover that will incorporate bike racks. I've been looking at the Truck Covers USA one, but at more than $200 cheaper (after adding the rails to the TCU American) your post now has me considering the Retrax Pro XR. Do you have any thoughts you can share regarding pros/cons between the two? Thanks!

FYI, I'm still planning to sell my Truck Cover USA. A really great, super solid cover, but I had to change my set up for work. Purchased in Jan 2018, on truck only 4 months. Clean and ready to roll. Hit me if you're interested....

Like-new, Truck Covers USA American Roll Tonneau Cover from a 2014 Tacoma double cab, short bed, with Yakima rack tracks. $1500. (Current total at AutoAnything.com = $1944)

FYI, I'm in NorCal and would rather not ship it...
