I’d definitely be down for a set in the next 6 months or so.

So, I'm a newer Taco guy - I'm digging the Al setups, as for now, I won't be wheeling hard, or out in any super-crazy places. My concern with the oil panel would be scraping a rock across the hex head, and having to drill the machine screws out...? am I just paranoid, slow, or is that just a fact everyone deals with when it comes down the pike?
Either way, digging these and will look forward to a release of full kit!

Basically, if you are going to wheel anywhere you might drag over rocks, you need protection. Besides what you described, a sharp rock can rupture your pans and then you are not even gonna be able to limp home.

right- not doubting the efficacy of the gear - more the protection of the one ongoing frequent thing you *ideally* have to service. Just curious if a small guard or deeper countersink might save some pain on the hex heads. Otherwise still tracking for plausible 2019 purchase...

Ahhh, I'm sorry, I misread your post, so your are asking about dragging across the skid plate and damaging the protection for the oil drain plug access point? If so, then sure, I could see that being a problem for sure.

I know guys that wheel a lot harder than I ever will and they say go aluminium if there's a chance but go steel if you know for sure you will be pounding on rocks. I hope to never need steel.

Unfortunately aluminum is still going up.
Looking at about $600 a sheet for 1/4" aluminum currently from the $288 i paid when I started. I'm not sure I can produce them at a price people are willing to pay and make the profit needed at the current aluminum price.
I'm still hoping it settles down soon.

Damn these skids look great! I like that they're wide, especially the front skid

wow. that's quite a bit. and 80#'s worth of it to get shipped to hawaii. guess it's worth waiting for the price to come down.
