Getting New Frame Installed, Por-15 Application?

I am wondering if I can simply apply the por-15 onto what toyota has painted on the frame, or if its really necessary to remove the paint they have applied. I would think since no rust, just paint por-15 without the wash they recommend. I do not want this frame to go bad either, seems the frames still come with a lip, and I would bet they used the same type of steel too.

 

It stands for paint over rust. It's happiest with some surface rust to adhere to.

 

Just wait a month or so you'll have plenty of rust again.

 

Yea, I just figured I could use it as regular paint to avoid the rust. But if it needs it...might consider just painting it with an anti rust black from home depot

It's been a little over a year, how's the Cosmoline holding up? I've debating use that instead of Fluid Film, since it supposedly sets up harder, and wondered what your experience was.

 

Highly recommend. The residue was there for the entire year, and I wash a lot. I am going with the fluid film this year just to compare. But honestly, I've already come to the conclusion this RP stuff is great. And the black undercoat is awesome too.
