That's rad. I would love to drive that for one day, no more. I have never seen a Land Rover Forward Control in person.

Thanks man! How do those tires feel with 4.10 gears? If I remember correctly I have 3.91's and they are a little sluggish

Actually, according to my door label codex, I have the 4:30 gearing.... the tires feel fine but they are a bit heavier than the Hankooks i had before and I can feel it on takeoff and braking but its not nearly as bad as i feared... plus my speedo is now spot on and im getting about 20 mpg... overall im loving the new set up.. maybe one day ill fork up the cash for some F5s to help offset the extra weight

Gotcha, my tires are E rated and I can certainly feel them when accelerating. My rotors have gotten warped for the second time in a row so I'm hoping the Tundra brake upgrade will solve that issue. I've been debating getting new gears but haven't looked into ratios much. 4.56 seems a bit overkill for my application, so I am leaning towards something closer to 4.30's like you have.

F5's would look awesome on your truck! Do you have any plans for bumpers?

Yeah, it’s unfortunate that 265/75s are getting harder and harder to find in C rating... 235s are all E load...

Good luck with the tundra brake swap... from what I’ve read it’s a worthy upgrade

No bumpers for me... I don’t do any wheeling hard enough to justify the weight or cost... Maybe proper sliders some day but for niw it’s my DD and I like her the way she is...

I think you already have 4:30 gears, @silverbullet02. I believe that was the only ratio available on 2001-2004 2.7L 5 speed Tacomas. If your VIN sticker shows B07A for the axle code, that’s what you have.

    ^^ what he said.
Mine had 4.30's with the 2.7 and the auto trans. No power at all.

Interesting.... well now I'm going to run the VIN again after school! I ran it once a year or two ago but perhaps I misread it. @Ritchie did you upgrade to lower axle gears? And if so what did you settle on?

    Silverbullet02,
To preface my answer, I run 285-75-16 on a set of Methods. I have the 2.7 motor w/ auto trans and did a SAC. The truck has gained close to 1300 pounds.
With my motor/ trans/ tire size, I'm running 5.29's front & rear. Some say I'm over geared but the differences in altitude where I live can go from 10' above seal level to 1,400' on any given day.
I turn 2750 rpm @ 70 mph on the freeways. It works, plain and simple. If I had more HP, I could go to a 35" tire but as we all know, the 3RZ doesn't have enough grunt to pull them in my area.

I hope this answers your question.

Ah I see, yeah I don't think my setup is very comparable to yours! I appreciate the response though.

On another note, I checked my VIN today and found out that I have the B06A axle code, so according to the sticky in the 1st gen section of TW I have 3.91 gears. Makes me feel even more jealous of the 4.30's you all seem to have!

Sorry for the thread jack @chiago :anonymous:
