TPMS pressure reading gauge.

I have a good air compressor and a cheap (Auto Zone) air pressure gauge. I can not inflate all 4 tires at the same pressure no matter how many times I check. That dial is "general" at best.
Any suggestion for a good digital air gauge?

 

I had a digital gauge that actively read pressures to 0.1psi. I bought it for $10 when Griots Garage was clearing them out. Slime started selling the same ones for about that price. This might be an updated version of it:

I used and abused it for years until the spring arm broke off the battery contact. 0.1psi sounds dumb, but typical digital gauges read to 0.5psi. Side to side, you could be off by almost 1.0psi. I couldn't wrap my head around that big of a difference.

I have an older version of it also. Since, they redesigned the straight and right angle chucks. I wish I had the right angle one, but the price is too high. Great gauge though.


Either way, the ability to bleed down to a pressure is an important feature.

 

I have a blue point inflator gauge I bought from the snap on man years ago when I worked on cars. It's accurate and I can both inflate and deflate with it. I think I've warrantied it out twice, but it gets way less use now days. It's probably rebranded from another manufacturer.

I think this is the non blue point version.

 

I would like one that I connect the compressor to it and to the tire. In this way I can check pressure as I inflate it.

 

I use Jaco air products for work and play. They have all passed calibration tests to use on aircraft work.

Ones just a gauge and the other a digital inflator. Boat are accurate and reliable.

 

I use this one. I wish it had a higher resolution gauge, but it's close enough to get the pressures to all match on the in cab display.

Craftsman 19.2 volt cordless inflator has a digital gauge, to 10ths of a lb if I recall correctly, seems to work OK.

 

Inflating them to the same pressure and keeping them at the same pressure is impossible. If half your car is in the sun and half in the shade it can change the air pressure. If you go around a bunch of left hand turns the outside front will increase by a psi or two. You cannot ever keep the same pressure in all tires, unless you keep it in a garage and never drive it lol.

I know pressure changes with temp (from sun and driving) but I can't get constant pressure as is. The needle over the white background is flimsy and based on viewing angle is different reading.

 

I know you can't use this gauge inline with the compressor, but I have used this one since I have had my truck and have found it to work quite well.

Unless you are a race car drive and need pure nitrogen and accuracy to 1/8 lb the digital gauges work just fine. I have 3 Slime brands keep one in my wife’s car, my truck, and my tool chest. I keep all tires at 35 but most important they are the same pressure left and right sides.

 

Yep! I check my air cold before leaving the garage. It allows me to gauge tire wear over time, which was a problem with my favorite motorcycle tires. Going up just 2psi (cold) eliminated cupping and netted a 25% increase in tire life.

0.5/1 psi is a big difference? You do know that when you drive your tire pressure fluctuates, when one side sits in the sun, the temps/season changes.. It ain't a race car. Digital dash gauges have made people paranoid.
