    Hey, all

Currently installing the Pioneer 600.1Ex radio into my Tacoma. Since I have the JBL audio package I was informed online and by a technician at bestbuy that I needed to use the PAC RP4.2-TY11 in order to integrate everything.

So I installed everything, did the crimps and currently have all the features working except the steering wheels controls. the PAC unit is registering the steering wheel input indicated by a blinking LED but all of the buttons on the steering wheel just cause the volume to go down. When I follow the instructions that came with the PAC unit to manually set the steering wheel controls they just stop working entirely until I do a factory reset to the unit.

I'm on here now because I can find little to no documentation on this unit and I cant find any other threads of users having a similar issue. Hoping someone on here can help me a bit. I wired the aftermarket harness MUTE cable to the PAC cable specified and plugged the headphone jack cable into the aftermarket HU.

I've read about non-consistent behavior with PAC units. Mr Marv recommended Metra Axxess over PAC so that's what I've got coming to integrate with wheel/mic from a JBL setup. (ASWC-1 and AX-ADTY01)

Yeah, I already wired the Metra harness in but never got to test it since my first wiring harness wasnt compatible. If i'm not able to get the PAC setup working ill rewire the metra one in which will hopefully work. Just not fun having to spend $150 in wiring harnesses......

Years ago when I switched out my head unit it bought the PAC controller. I spent about 4 hrs messing with it and finally returned it. I have been without steering wheel controls for years now! lol

Fixed my issue, PAC wiring diagram said to connect all SWC related leads to the PAC controller. One of those leads for my radio ended up being both an (SWC Input/Mute) combo? So since I knew the steering wheel had no mute button I disconnected that cable leaving just the 3.5m jack and everything works now!

OP - I'm having the same problem with my 2010 Tacoma (non-JBL). How do I identify if my new receiver has the same. Below is from receiver manual. I've only plugged in the 3.5mm jack and have done nothing with the other 2 wires.
