Did you need to buy the rotopax mounting plate or do the mounts line up with the holes provided on the rack?

    Workin' on it....
I like the solid plates for security rather than have someone unbolt the plate and walk away with your traction boards.

Definitely getting the CBI rack for my truck — so sexy.

They line up. The Rotopax mounts come with a round plate that you'll end up tossing.

You won't need that plate. Arlaghan is correct - you'll even end up throwing out the small round plate that comes with the mounting hardware.

I posted this in another thread, but here are a couple shots of it all loaded up. Still love the rack.

That looks great! Can I get some details about your hi-lift mount? DIY or did you pick something up somewhere? I'm looking for mounts in that exact spot for shovels and things that won't interfere with the Rotopax mounted on the outside.

So I know this is an ancient post... I keep my rear 2 crossbars off most of the time.
I keep them bolted to my RTT and pull them off all together as it helps getting the tent set back on much easier.

The rack is solid with the 2 bars removed - I wouldn't tie off to it up high for anything but for just leaving it set there it's fine.

What mounting brackets are those for the ax and shovel?

I used to own a tonneau and I don't think that would work at all.

    Yup It will. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...bed-offroad-build.450938/page-3#post-16251069

I have an Access Original cover and bolted the side rails direct to the CBI Rack. The canvas is a little bit loose and it's a pain to work the cover on and off but I definitely like having the cover to keep my stuff out of sight and somewhat clean and dry in the back.

quick question, has anyone fit 2 dirt bikes in the bed with the rack crossbars removed? Seems like it would be annoying but possible...

I was trying to find the same thing and I found out I would need to go to a tent and soft topper sewer or a custom shop that would do this. I have the CBI overland rack and I love it. I just would like a soft vinyl top to go over it. I googled and found a few tent shops that do custom work.

This rack is excellent, and I find the ability to mount things in multiple configurations very intriguing. I don't mind the fact that you have to drill here and there to make it work. Does anyone know the weight difference between the steel and aluminum? I'm guessing the Aluminum is roughly half the weight?
