It works , I know some who do it with 4 wheelers and some of the sled dog guy hook the team up to a 4 wheeler in neutral and let them pull it during warm months. If I had the property and a 4 wheeler he would be on a lead pole jogging lol.

:pccoffee: Damn work interferes with life too much anymore. No way going to be ready to head to the North Shore at this rate. Need to take PTO so I can take PTO

Here some places will set the jumps low enough for young dogs so they don't really have to jump. But yeah they prefer that they are at least 1 before they start to jump because they are finally realizing it can ruin their joints if they start too early. And helps if they have obedience down before agility LOL. We did AKC Rally after basic obedience this time and the mental challenges wear them out as well or more than agility.

There is that too, at least in my case. Think it wears me out more than the dog but that isn't hard to do.

    Pretty common around here.

Yep , the GSD growth plates are not done till about 14 to 18 months of age. I have thought of setting them low but he is definitely high speed low drag and would likely launch over them just because he can. He likes to show me now and then he can rear leg spring hop from the floor to the bed about 27 inches with out a running start lol.

We are heading into on leash working now he does fine off lead for the basics but now it is time to learn the intermediate heeling positions, walking control standing stay ,sitting not sure I will teach him the escort I would need a good decoy..... We have started area search for objects I do a down not retrieve . Light guarding work with a baby doll pretty sure my grand daughter is not going to like him as a chaperone lol Much more to go it will be next year ish before he is ready for prime time. His distraction work is meh but getting there , that is actually fun to teach though coming up with crazy noises and moving items etc to maintain position.
