I sure hope so! I haven’t had much time to hunt so far but at least I’ve seen deer each sit. The rut should be interesting. We are going to have our first frost Friday morning. I may try and get out and see what happens!

38 degrees this morning. Mosquito free! Saw 3 does about 40-45 yards. All is well. Still some fog when I got down.20181017_080216.jpg

The more I think about this buck the more restless I get. I’m starting to lose sleep over him. I’ve named him Tank!!C3B612F8-BA8A-49B3-815E-B7426A1BFE91.jpg

I found the guy i shaved Sat today. Pulled it lowand grazed his belly. So spent 12 hrs looking for a gut shoot deer and nada. Driving on the road for 5 min there he is standing in the field eating. Missing a patch of fur under his belly:mad:

New practice regime is shooting from the roof.1017181820a.jpg 1017181853.jpg for the mpst part im happy with this group. It at least is helping me fine tune my pins, hand hold, draw, and relax.

The only time I name a buck is when he's on the ground and my tag is on him. Then I call him mine. :D

My son got it done tonight. First buck with a bow. Nice 5 point. Body was huge, neck was swollen like he was starting to rut. He watched him work a scrape for ten minutes or so. Finally turned broadside at 20 yards. Went maybe fifty yards.

To each their own! I love being in the woods, too. I donate a deer or two a year to the Hunters for the Hungry program here in VA. But, for the most part, I would hate to give away those beautiful back straps!

Damn right they are. If I am in a "camp" (as opposed to just getting out for the day), any deer that is killed gets the back straps cut out and we cook them over the fire in a cast iron skillet right then and there.

How does everyone like to cook theirs?

I like to "fry" them in a pan with black truffle olive oil and garlic. My mouth is watering right now!

I normally give a deer to this older lady that is a good friend and last year unfortunately since I was limited on hunting chances.

Cows are out of field now so hopefully true deer actually get some apples.

Got to town late last night so I just came and glassed the field, so one buck with one antler and still in velvet. But that was still early in the evening.

Jump another buck on my way in but didn’t get a good look.

Should still see some deer, with my extra motivation I have set out.

So about 2 weeks ago my 7 y.o. daughter said she wanted to learn to shoot a bow. I bought her a pink Bear compound. Since buying her one my 4 y.o. wanted one too. So I bought him a Bear Scout. I haven't taken any pics of her yet, but here is one of him.20181012_165706.jpg
Not bad form for being 4 and just learning.
