Hello, I have a 2016 TRD sport 4x4. I recently did the body chop hoping it would fix my problem with my front tires rubbing. Unfortunately, it did not fix the issue. It still rubs when when my tires are spinning in mud or rocks and it doesn’t matter if I’m straight or turned. I even put some tape on the suspected spots (front and rear part of the fender flares, upper control arm) and the tape was untouched after doing some off roading. Anyone know what it could be? I have icon coilovers set at about 2 inches in height and 275/70R17 tire size. Hope someone can help!

Is it perhaps the front fender liner? I think that needs to be remolded for your tire size.

    I don’t think it’s a backspace or offset issue but they’re Fuel D584 wheels

I might look into that. Even if it’s not that it’ll be ruled out. There’s no sign of rubbing in the area though.

You hear rubbing but you're not seeing any evidence of it? Are you positive it's actually the sound of rubbing and not the traction control you're hearing? Honest question. This truck makes some crazy sounds when it loses traction.

I was thinking that too. The traction control light comes on when it happens. I’ve also heard with Tacomas when the tire hits something in the wheel whale it cause the traction control to kick in. Hmm..

    Sounds fishy.

    What’s your caster?

Traction control will make sounds that sound very similar to rubbing. If your traction light is coming on that's likely what it is.

Agreed, just looked at the specs. I dont suspect that you would need to trim your well liner with that size, but thats specifically from a 2nd gen standpoint. Youre on the right track though, keep hunting for the rub if there is one.
