I uhh...peeled the stickers off. Does that count?
I apologize for the likely repeat question. I have been a lurker here and on reddit's r/Toyotatacoma and can't find my answer. I came from a Caddy (which I hated) with HID headlights (that I loved) and traded that for a 2018 DCLB sport I bought 8 days ago. The halogens in our trucks are embarrassing given the $40k+ tag. I want HID headlights. I love the Morimotos (https://www.theretrofitsource.com/2016-tacoma-morimoto-elite.html) from a bulb perspective, though I welcome other opinions. My question is, can the stock halogen lenses work for HIDs or should I get something like Anzo's switchback (http://www.anzousa.com/toyota-tacoma-16-17-projector-plank-style-switchback-h-l-black-amber.html) to house the HIDs?

Yes, the morimoto hids work very nicely in the oem housings. I had that exact kit installed in my 2017.

You need to buy the full kit with the ballast, relays, etc. but yes, the HID H11 low beam bulbs fit nicely in the original housing. The install is not terribly difficult. If I can do it, anyone can.

You do not need new housings unless you want halos or other fancy stuff.

I totally understand and expected I missed this in other posts. Thanks for the heads up!

I purchased the elite hids and they’re great when working properly. It seems every few times I turn the headlights on (auto) the right (passenger) side light will not turn on. It will turn on after I turn the lights off and back on. They’ll be fine for awhile and it will happen again. I’m going to switch the ballasts and see if the issue follows.

My wifes venza did the same exact thing. I contacted Xenon depot and they sold me a $30.00 relay kit and it works perfect now.

Interesting. After the relay kit you have not had any issues? Is the relay for the main power off the battery or something different?

Looking at what I have installed in looks like I'm using the supplied relay.

Yes. Once I added the relay kit I have not had a single issue. Works awesome with the auto setting. This is what I got. Hooks to the battery directly.
