Cooper ST Maxx 265/75/16 are going on my rig next Friday. I may be more excited about this than the Billie 5100/OME 885/add a leaf kit I put on awhile ago.
The BFG KO2 I inherited on my truck are cupped and unevenly worn. They are putting out some strange vibrations.

It's going to be a long week! I may have to take Friday off to test them out and chase some Ruffed Grouse and Woodcock.

So far, my opinion is that these tires rip!
Haven’t pushed too hard other than a few wet, bumpy leaf covered two track descents/ascents but they were impressive.

After a few months, how's the ST MAXX doing with your fuel economy and are they too stiff as far as feeling every road crack in the road? I've had these on F350's but not my Taco. They are hands down the best looking. Thanks

Let me know how they are and what tire you are coming from (LOAD, SIZE, etc). Thanks!

Coming from 265/70/17 in C load. Geolander H/T which came stock on the 2014 TRD Sport that I came on the wheels I bought as take offs. They are absolutely horrible in any wet or snow covered road.

These are going to be E load. Will be 12lb difference per tire. I’ll let you know how they feel

Feel good and no rub. Definitely feel the weight when I'm starting from a spot. Need a bit more gas and less clutch.

I love mine. Getting them rotated on Wednesday. Little heavy with the E load but they ride just fine going down the road. Just take a little more gas on the start and brake on the stop but I'm used to that now. Amazing in the snow. Just wish they didn't rub a little bit. Hope that helps!

Can’t speak for KO2’s but once I fixed my exhaust leak they’re pretty darn quiet to me. No louder in the interstate than my lady’s 05 Lexus. Also getting 17.5 mpg now when I drive 65-68mph vs 14.5-15 at 75-78mph.

What tires do you have now? I’m interested in the ride change for you. I went from stock to Toyo AT2 load E and the tires are heavier which affects braking and everything people notice. But if you go off road you can’t compromise on sidewalls. It’s only if you are lucky can you do a sidewall repair on the trail.

I bought my 2016 OR used and it came with 265/70/16 Yokohama geolander H/T. They are decent tires just want to go bigger and something that will not blow out in the woods.

Nice rig man. Looking at going the tall skinny route. Running 265/75/16 duratraks at the moment. You running spacers? What wheel do you have?

This thread is very relative to my interests...

Looking like I'm going to be going from 275/70/17 BFG K02s to some Cooper ST MAXX 255/85/16 this weekend.
Just called the Discount Tire by me and they are putting in an order for 5 tires. I've got a set of 5 FJ Cruiser 16x7" wheels I'm getting for a great deal from a friend who after I take off my BFGs and other 17" wheels, will be helping me sell them.

Once I get them installed (and the alignment done) I'll post up pics!

(here's the before as my rig currently sits)

Currently usingCoopersST for daily driving and offroading. Perform well. The best set I have used for mud/ deep snow has been by far the TOYO 255/85-16 mud terrain. Daily driving, about 1 1/2 years of tread. 2010TACO- 260K MILES

Great thread. I’m between 265/75r16 and the 255/85r16. Myvreservation with the skinny is noticeable sluggishness. Worth noting that I’m also adding steel bumper and winch on 3rd gen.

Guys on skinnies- any regrets ?

Bumping this up! Same boat, as I'm thinking about going 255/85/16. But the tires I'm looking at (the new Open Country A/T 3) don't (yet?) come in 255...
