What would you rather run for a plex server?

    Mac mini server, i7 2.3ghz w/ 16gb or DDR3 ram. Dual 1tb drives at 5300rpm.

    OR.

Dell PowerEdge R320 with Intel Xeon E3 @2.20ghz with 64gb or ram. Has 4x160gb SSD's running in RAID0.

I'm asking because I'm currently running the Mac, I have the opportunity to get the Dell for a hell of a deal. But wasn't sure if it would be worth it due to the older processor. IMO the server wins but it's a massive footprint vs the mini. Just debating if it's worth it or not.

Compare the passmark rating for each. 2k for each 1080p you want it to be able to transcode.

If they are close, stay on with Mac. If major difference, get the dell.

Huge difference in speeds. Mac was pulling 7732 vs the Dell at 3258. File transfer speeds was much faster with the Dell but the score tells me transcoding isn't going to be fun with that dell. Kinda a bummer since the server was going to be free.

Tempted to get an i7-8086K. Then again, I know most of my motivation to get it is just to tell people it's been a long time since I've had an 8086 processor.

    (I barely use my 4790K)

Looking for input on these two receivers for a home theater system. They are both in my price range of under $300 and have a great list of features.
    Denon Avr-s730h and Onkyo TX-NR676
Leaning towards the Denon as it seems to be easier to setup which would be a bonus for me.

Pretty much the same thing, you get a little more RMS power out of the Onkyo. My next receiver will be a Denon as I have been using Onkyo for years but their support pisses me off and they don't fix things they should.

    Thanks!
I should have my TV stand this weekend which will help me decide as I am not sure how large of a unit it will fit. Liking the reviews on how the Denon is easier to setup. There is so much info out there it is almost not helpful. Now, I need to start looking at speakers! This should be interesting!

I do like the menu's on both of them. There really isn't a lot to setup with these unless you want to drill into fine tuning of the sound. You can always use the mic setup feature that's built in to get a starting point for tuning.

It's only possible if it's unlocked. In that case, using a tmo SIM should download tmo firmware updates. Otherwise, you would need to root the phone, and install the tmo version of the stock rom.

To my understanding if the phone isn't locked you won't have issues. So once you put the Sim car from Tmo in there it should just boot up and start working.

I'd have to start reading about it but a quick search showed that issue coming up. I don't have time tonight but I'll try and look into it tomorrow.

Sorry it's been taking so long. So long story short, yes you can get everything to work if you flash the Tmobile firmware using Odin. You could also flash a custom rom using Odin.

Issue: I didn't read all 100 something pages but there seems to be some problems with it at times. It doesn't affect anyone but some people have had major issues with the process. From my experience a lot of times you have people flashing phones that have no right touching a keyboard to begin with let alone flashing firmware on a $1000 phone.

Nice. I was thinking about it but there's really no reason for me to have it. I never max out my 300 down as it is.
