Yeah, bolt hole dimensions would be great.

Looks like it would be pretty tight. I measure 11” from the center of that top right bolt on the cubby to the left edge of the GFC mount. 8D19AF15-B134-4005-93BD-EAD2059CFCFF.jpg

Did they send you an email stating your camper is finished or give you a phone call?

The sea of white around my number in the leaderboard is much less stark now. The production schedule is creeping closer. So stoked!!

Negative. Elise and I emailed back and forth last week and she said it was simply waiting on foam. With the foam pickup Instagram post and my status changing from "In Production" to "Ready to Ship" today I figured it is a very safe bet that it is good to go. I emailed her earlier to confirm pickup logistics so if it is anything other than ready for pickup and install I'll let this thread know.

Best day yet. Big update on the leaderboard. 7 completed today, moved from in production to ready to ship. Mines in there, I’ll give y’all a good leak test with the hose when I receive it.

Not Shipped: Too many to count
    In Production: 35
    Ready to Ship: 13
    Shipped: 62
    Completed: 74

Edit: still a little discrepancy with the ready to ship + shipped, no big deal.

Hey guys, I’m just looking at the cool product, envy. I see rust is a concern on material that is either powder coated, stainless, or aluminum. To prevent rust you need to except the fact it is a constant battle, no matter the the quality, or the material. I work in the marine industry and we use mostly stainless steel, aluminum,or brass. If you want it to look new, it takes work, period. On my truck and the Snugtop I use a combination of products: Mavcoat, T9 Bosheild, and Fluid Film. Remember the old saying,”Rust Never Sleeps”. These campers look like a great product, and would love to have one.

Out of curiosity why not just wrap the strap around the rack crossbar? Keep in mind that you don't want to mount anything to the white roof panel directly. It's not intended to carry any weight. All roof loads need to be carried by the extrusion frame of the tent, not the roof panel. The biggest reason is abrasion. Anything that can move against the panel will eventually wear a hole in the roof.

And speaking of foam, here's all the foam Graeme hauled back on the last delivery run:

Also got some antenna mounts designed. Machining a production right now, they should be in the GFC store this coming week. Designed for a 3/8" NMO mount. Could also be used for mounting anything that would want a 3/8" hole.

Some more observations after longer term gfc use. Some are repeats of previous observations:

    • The sleeping area stayed dry in the rain. The gfc sealed portion of the truck bed stayed dry in the rain. Seal your bed rails and corners well and all should be good.
    • The downstairs area is a perfect place to hang out and eat when it is dark, cold and windy.
    • Condensation was an issue some nights. One night it was raining and most windows were closed. Another night all the trees and tables were dripping condensation the next morning, so no surprise there was some inside as well. Another night it was in the low or mid 20s and condensation froze inside. I know the best way to fight condensation is airflow, but my wife hates cold drafty air and wants everything shut on cold nights. I am looking into cheap portable fans.
    • I wish there was a way to partially open the back window and leave it open for airflow. It is easy to open all the way as designed and with the strap provided. I may use some stick on Velcro pieces to allow partial opening from the bottom. It might be even better to have two zippers per side so the back window could be opened from the top or bottom.
    • Dust intrusion into the truck bed was very minimal, muddy feet tracking in dirt on the other hand negated that real quick.
    • To me, it is best to sleep head towards the narrow end after trying both.
    • Bubble levels on the extrusions are worth it.
    • All sleeping bags and pillows can be stored in a cargo net as shown previously in the thread.
    • A paracord or bungee connecting all six d-rings on the upper spaceframe is handy for hanging cloths to dry or air out. Also keeps wet cloths from mixing with sleeping material in the cargo net.
    • The best buildout is minimal or none for me. Weight and space matter. Action packers or similar are cheap and provide more flexibility and space than a permanent install. Anything permanently mounted on the floor takes up potential lounging space. A mostly blank truck bed floor makes it easy to use the space below for setting up a chair and relaxing.
    • Ease of locking the tent closed is correlated to how well the edges are tucked in away from the extrusion. Sometimes they annoyingly flare out, even if closing slowly.
I wish someone started making products like the gfc or drifter years ago. Makes camping much more comfortable.

    A couple thoughts:

For the partially opening rear door, you can tie some paracord from the zipper pulls to the little loops at the corner of the door. That way as you zip open the door, it will also pull up the bottom edge if that makes sense. Would also make it easier to roll up completely as it would already be halfway rolled up.

As for condensation, it's not always a matter of airflow. Single wall shelters (which all of the wedge campers are) will get condensation in the right conditions no matter how much airflow you have. Biggest contributors are camping near water or on wet ground. Sometimes there's nothing you can do if the air has lots of water vapor in it and the sides of the tent cool below the dew point. But opening the two side windows a couple of inches even will make a difference on nights that don't have a lot of humidity.

Cool, looking forward to a potential fan.

The Velcro on the rear door would be for non rainy nights.

Thanks, I’ll try the paracord idea. My solution thus far is a cargo strap through the carabiner at the top, under the top handle and looped under the rear door. I adjust by tightening or lossening the cargo strap and door zippers.

As for condensation, I am used to dealing with it due to my single wall backpacking shelters. I agree, many times there is no getting around it. In this last trip, a double wall tent next to us was soaked worse than us due to the wet ground.
