    Thanks dude!

little set back yesterday trying to finish it up. got it all back together, filled with coolant and ran to get up to temp. noticed a substantial leak from the waterpump. leaking from the seal but not sure where. also, the temp gauge never moved, and the heater never got warm. other than that.. it worked great and no issues. lol

So.. I'm going to drain again today and disassemble enough to get to the water pump. pull it, clean the surface again (thought I had it good enough the first time) and add some blue rtv around it.

I will be ordering new Temp sensor and sender units which will hopefully fix the gauge and heater issue. otherwise.. back to the drawing board.

Hey @YumaTRD have you replaced the temp sensor or sender units on yours? Thinking those are a culprit to my temp gauge not working right.. and or the thermostat not opperating correctly .

Did the temp sender function before the coolant swap?

Not 100%. It was hit or miss. I wanted to try and trouble shoot why at some point. This whole coolant thing brought it to light even more.. and kind of confirmed my suspicions it might be going out.

for the no heat issue.. maybe I just suck at coolant flush and fills.. and bleeding the system? I'll try it again.. but sounds like it might just be air in the system.. and or the heater core/hoses clogged.

The gauge not working correctly I'm sure is the sender unit. $3 part plus snipping and crimping on a new spade connector will hopefully solve that.

Welp.. after poking around more last night, I found what I assume is the cause for the heater not working.

I started looking into the heater core to do a flush and check the lines and even the check valve. When I traced the hoses back.. first thing I noticed was this kink..

    IMG_20181022_172925.jpg

Then I started investigating the check valve itself. the mechanism was seized solid (stuck closed)... AND the cable from the temp lever inside the cab wasnt even connected. He must have just disconnected it and left the check valve/mechanism seized. I was having some trouble from time to time adjusting the hot/cold lever.. It felt like it was getting hung up.. well.. now I know why.

    IMG_20181022_174234.jpg

I soaked the mechanism, valve, and cable in wd-40, re-attached cable, and worked the lever for a bit. all works flawlessly now.

    IMG_20181022_175330.jpg
    IMG_20181022_175339.jpg

all thats left to do is replace the temp sender unit/switch.. which controls the gauge. this sensor with the spade connected on it. Going to snip the old terminal off, crimp on a new one, and install the new sensor.

    IMG_20181022_175833.jpg

that should take care of all the coolant systems issues ive been having. Just need to tear it down again to re-seal the water pump, add this sensor, and bleed the system again now that I can run with the heater on.

Thank you Sir. I definitely feel like this little truck was meant to be a learning experience. Lol. Learning a lot so far, and it's stupid simple to work on.

Hoping to have this thing back up and running by this weekend. And sitting lower too.

Hey Josh, when you did your poly cab mounts, did you unhook the ABS wires or anything else? I’m gathering my self to do them and don’t want to forget anything...

Tore the mini apart again yesterday. Super easy the 2nd time around. Lol. Got it all drained and cleaned up the water pump mating surface. Letting it sit today and I'll add gasket maker and slap it all back together when I get home. Added a new spade connector to the temp sending unit as well. Should be ready to roll by this weekend.

My truck started to have overheating issues this weekend on the trail. I guess its just time to swap in the spare motor I got and rebuild the current one. Are you also adding the lowering blocks this week?
