Air rifle

So I have an old as hell crossman pump rifle. Looking to upgrade to a break barrel .22 caliber. Honestly dont want to spend too much on it. But don't want crap. So budget would be $250

Looking for suggestions!!! Mostly for pest control and target practice.

Def cheaper than buying a .22 rifle and slapping a can on it. After all the govt and CT law restrictions.

I bought a break barrel single shot from a traveling tool show for maybe $20 about 20 years ago. It was an accurate, but heavy beast though. The natural rubber seals in the chamber finally gave out and now it’s useles.

Last one I bought I went to the big box store with the largest selection and bought a mid range priced Crossman. It’s been good the last 8 years or so I’ve had it. 760 model possibly. 5-10 pumps and it’ll do OK.

 

Buy a vintage Sheridan Blue Streak. I got mine for $100. (Prices are going up)

I hit a lizard in the head at 10 Yards. Iron sights. Mine is a .20cal. It’s ridiculous how accurate it is.

THEN send it to Mac1 Aurguns for his Steriod treatment and peep sight. (I still need to do this).

 

I bought a Gamo .17 caliber about 20 years or so ago. Still going strong. It is on its second or third scope--I am too cheap to buy a genuine air rifle scope.

I bought one over the summer and decided on the Crossman F4 classic. For $80 and 1200 FPS, it's great!

My first choice was a Gamo Whisper Silent Cat but didn't want to spend $150 on one.

 

About airgun fps. They use super lightweight pellets to get those numbers.

Shoot thru a chrono and you’ll be surprised.

 

Benjamin Trail, 22. Using mostly JSB Diablo Jumbo Heavy (18.13 gr). Takes out squirrels/rabbits consistently at 35-40 yards. Using heavy pellets keeps them subsonic (quieter), than lighter sonic pellets.

That’s a great pellet out of my PCP.

I do wish the can lid screwed on like other brands. It opens up in my case sometimes. Good times!!

 

The new JSBs .22 monters Redesigned are crazy accurate.

Those are crap, you get what you pay for, if you wanna go the springer route get a Weihrauch.

 

Stoeger x20, put on a good scope and replace the trigger. I had my buddy sight it in in his basement and with the right pellets it was shooting 1/2” groups at 45’. Or get a feinwerkbau 300s

 

What brand/model is it? I might be interested in buying it!

 

Brandless and at least 17-18 years in my possession. No telling how long the tool show had it before selling it.
