I think the key is buying something that is not as high in demand as the Pro. My TRD Off-road was listed at $40k....they added the 4runner wheels/tires, toolbox, lift etc and I never budged a penny off my low ball offer.

I don't feel I got over on them, I simply led with my only offer at the maximum value I placed on the truck with exactly what I wanted. They could have said no, and I did say no until they said yes

I have seen similar packages at Charles Maund on Tacomas and 4Runners. The only 'benefit' from such a premium is the lift and parts are dealer certified...

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
I got both pros. It’s true what has been said. The SUV works best for a group of people. The truck is more versatile, unless you have a trailer.
The 4runner rides smoother, and runs like the 4.0
The Tacoma’s interior is much nicer IMO, as the headliner is black, the radio is much better, the seats are better quality (not as plush as the runner though).

Both are sweet. But sounds like the 4runner would be a better choice for you.

The Landcruisers are king for sure, but hard to find for less than 48k.

I got my 4runner for way less than is described in this forum, but it had 2k miles on it and my friend owned it.
