Took Taco into dealer today for 15K service and to check and verify the crawl control was not self-destructing. Last month , I stayed in Leadville a couple weeks. I did 7 or 8 passes in stock TRDOR. Tried the crawl control twice, it sounded like it was ripping the hubs out, up and down on power, jerky and noisey. Service dept said this jerky and grinding is normal,,, No Problem.
Is this correct or not ???

    Yep! Not as bad uphill..
Just put in 4lo and sport mode 1 going downhill. Using crawl on 1 or 2 level worse sounding than the higher speeds.

That is correct get used to it what you are hearing is two things under the hood is the valve block system with solenoids on it that are clanking on and off in rapid fire to apply brakes to any one of the wheels that starts to spin or break loose and by doing that the wheels that still have traction keep going and it will go back and forth a pile. If you ever had anti lock breaks and slammed em on hard you probably have heard that noise from under the hood before, Then there is a great deal of noise from the brakes going on and off in rapid fire.

Crawl Control is bunk. Sales gimmick is all it is. I have been stuck in sand (on purpose) just to test out the crawl control. It couldnt get me out. I turned it off and drove out myself. But yeah, its noisy as shit.

I saw a video that looked like it wouldn't get out. The guy was way more patient than I would ever be, it finally pulled him out of sand, not on an incline.

I was even on an incline, trying to go DOWNhill and it would get me out. Gave it 45-60 seconds. Finally turned it off and got out immediately under my own power.

A minute probably isn't long enough to let it do it's thing. But it sounds like you didn't need it anyway.
