bfgATTA, Topper, kills in the Sand snow and mud trails.. new suspension, offload light bar to come and sleeping quarters, gas storage upgrade.
Hello, new to forum and had picked good pieces of info for some troubleshooting in past. I had a 73 FJ-40 years ago, w v-8 conversion.. budget ride but really clean.. sold running with upgrades for 2700 before moving to CA...had an Isuzu pick up.. upgraded to a VW vanagon 1990 which I ha upgraded it to offload little. moved to CA in and it died, went to a couple sedans.. VW/Toyota before affording my first tacoma! looked for used rides which style white I liked better but miles to dollars was too much for me not being able to do an engine/trans swap. made sense to buy new.. in 2006 a 2007 base model 4x4 which today has 83k miles and never touched anything but big AT TA rims and the recall fixes. Desert camping, mountain trails in southern CA with mountains in snowstorms and some mud trails. Love the choice and single cab no power anything I love... but new shocks, and lighting option/bar lights any suggestions open to. and currently swapping out all powertrain fluids for the first time even though earlier might have been better. brake fluid also. Thx Ric

Welcome to TW. Shock an lighting options vary from dirt cheap to sky high. A great stock replacement is the Bilstein 5100s an lighting a few vendors sell mounts for ditch light or light bar between grill an bumper. Rago, caliraised led, are off the top of my head also BAMF Bay area metal fabrication, also total chaos as well. Lights just gotta do your research I have cheap Amazon specials they are bright but nothing like rigid or morimoto. I'd only use those for high speed desert stuff but auxbeam is a good in-betweener.

Thx for the info.. MattCow Smasher.. and for the greetings! everyone.. quite a spread of members in the US. 1st forum I have a good feeling from, 2nd/3rd ever joined.. Naac3Taco love that red stapler.. (great movie and symbolism..)
yes the bilstien 5100's I had noted at 10k miles for price to reviews... (when I was thinking on a small lift, lights, performance chip, bumper winch back then), but did an intake, larger better tires/rims and just enjoyed the rig as it served well.. no rock crawling of course but unique camping, driving travel destinations served well.. (as the toyota's in Afghanistan and Iraq/middle east have done but with 50 cal. and small rocket launchers mounted in the back. lol ), but time passes and had other areas to throw money.. a home, and move to MN currently.. and would like to do smart upgrades for preparation for road trippin and getting into our undevelopped locations in the US while we are able to. look forward to enhancing my taco knowlede being a DYI'er and maybe hooking up with others, in future for an offload adventure.. Rick
