Should I have my dash light up in daytime? Without light switch turned on. Dash is kind of dark.

The stem on the cluster is also a dimmer. Twist right so its brighter.

let me know if you figure out how to make the dash and arm rest control buttons light up without the headlights on. they do not light up when DRL is on, would like to make them come on when i turn on DRL.

My guess the reason Toyota did this is because of all the drivers driving around with no lights on at night, or with just DRL and no tails, because their dashes are lit up brightly all the time.

It's enough of a problem that Canada is mandating day time running tail lights for 2021 on all vehicles.

This :deadhorse: from me. At least once a day, I either see peeps running with DRLs on at night and nothing else or driving around 24/7 with their high beams on.

A non-backlit dash is the solution, not the problem. For the courtesy of others, if it is too dark to read the instruments, then it is most likely dark enough out that the parking lights or headlights should be on.

Only way to have the DRL’s and dash lights on simultaneously is to switch from auto position to the parking lights position on the light switch.

3rd Gens use LED DRLs, so the heat output is negligible.

if i leave it in that position will all the lights go out after i shut the truck off.
my reason is when i pull into a parking garage in the daytime i would like to see the controls on the arm rest and dash lit up.

Definitely! There is a setting in the head unit that allows you to set the time. It works for all knob positions. One of my favorite features of the truck.
