So, I've been searching non stop for a lift. Either a 1/0 leveling, or 2/1 lift. I see all the 6112/5100 posts, which make em better for off road, and softer suspension. Issue I'm having, I got the sport because I like the stiffer ride. I'm a travel welder, and the OR/Pro were a little soft for my liking for long 1k mile+ trips, and want the height though as some job sites are pretty damned rough, and any height boost will help.

My 2017 Tacoma had spacer/block combo, but rode like a Ford, feeling like there was no suspension at all. I want something to keep as close to stock sport feeling as I can as I like how it handles on the highway, but with the added height for some of the job sites.

    Suggestions?

That’s almost any lift in the market besides top mount spacer lifts.

What lift are you leaning towards after your research? Get that one.

I have none chosen. I had the 6112 kit in my shopping cart, then backed out. Worried it's gonna have the floating feeling, which I don't want.

I got a lift with front and rear compression adjusters from Head Strong. I can make the ride stiff or soft. It handles better on and off road. I had them on the third click but started to feel floaty After skid plates and sliders so turned them up to 5 and is stiff now. I think they go to 8 clicks but never been past 5 yet.

Thank you both. I'll be looking more into these. I've heard some ups and downs about the icons. Anyone have any more insight? I'm guessing the people who are happy with them outweigh those who hate them?

I went with Fox 2.5 up front and 2.0 in the rear with Dakar medium duty pack. Also looked at kings. It was pretty much a coin toss. I should have gotten the 2.5 rear shocks as well for the dual compression adjusters.

    Work in progress...
Sounds like Ya like the Sport ride and are staying on pavement. I would recommend a spacer/block lift.

    Nice. Cianbro?
The OR shocks felt like that because they are arguably set up more for OR. Any of the aftermarket shocks will be stiffer.

I like my Fox's. We are in the salt belt so you have to take care of them. But you can get them valved specifically for your truck by @*TRD* and avoid the resi if youre looking to spend that much. I will say the rear adjustable reservoir is nice for hauling weight.

Did the spacer/block on my 17. There was no suspension give at all. Hitting those overpass bumps on the highway would throw the truck back end off to the side and felt every bump. Trying to keep the stock feeling. Stiff, but has give so its not dangerous.

I'm a Union Pipefitter/Welder. Usually travel for Nuke Plant jobs. I'm gonna have to look into something that can be adjustable. Above post mentioned Headstrong with a setup that can be adjusted soft/hard, which seems like something that would be close to what I'm looking for.

Getting all my research done now, getting married a week from tomorrow, so want to order the parts by next Friday so I can have it all installed the week we get back from Dominican.

I did medium. I probable push it as far as you want to go with a medium. I probably have about 300lbs between the tent and rack, and put about another 300lbs in the back of the truck with gear, supplies, and the cooler is the heaviest item. I still maintain a bit of rake, which was my intent. I wasn't concerned as much with hitting a specific max height as I was getting all the performance out of the shock.

As a note though I do have the DSC adjusts up front and the Adjusters in the rear. when I add weight to the rear, I click those bad boys up and that it keeps me from running out of travel. I can hold 70 on golden road like butter.

    Too much.
If that is your goal, you could do what I did. I went 5100 all the way around, OME 884 springs, 1-1/2" AAL, 1/4" spacer on the driver side. $616.33 for parts. Me and my cousin did the install.

The lift netted me the following:

Driver Front - 1-7/16" net lift Passenger Front - 1-5/16"
Driver Rear - 2-7/8" net lift Passenger Rear - 2-1/2"

Add another inch for going up one size in tires (from 265-65/17 to 265-70/17). Those net numbers were right after the lift was installed, but I have not measured since then (I'm sure it has settled since them).

    10-20-18.jpg

I don't do offroading/overlanding, but I do drive some sketchy roads to camp sites with the Boy Scouts, and feel more comfortable with a bit of height and flexibility.

I chose the OME 884 because I didn't want a huge front end lift, and am not planning on adding any heavy bumper/etc, and my wife is short. While people will tell you the 884 is for second gen, it can be used on the 3rd gen with the 5100s to gain 1-1/4". I'm good with that. And I like rake.

Gotcha. I grew up in Millinocket. Golden road is pretty terrible as of past few years.

TY everyone for the information. I'll be compiling it and going over all these, and hopefully find one as close to stock feel as possible with an inch or 2 of lift.

It's a bit rough. Especially the part little cut through from the bottom of Baxter that dumps you right out at the store. But as bad as that is, Greenville Rd is arguably worse. Went out in July and had to shut her down at speed a few times to keep from going into some washouts.

Side note, there's many ways to skin this cat. More expensive stuff isn't always the answer. Some good suggestions on here with OME and bilstien 5100 stuff. Can also get the lower level Foxs and have @*TRD* revalve them and have a tailored ride for probably less. food for thought. Good Luck!
