The trick to oiling a K&N filter is lightly cover ea pleat , no need to soak the filter media of oil . Also having a spare filter oiled and ready so it has a chance to dry prior to install

If you open the cowling in front of the wipers you can install either fine wire mesh or a section of kitchen hood screen over the cabin air intake to keep the larger debris from clogging it up so quickly. There's a screw panel fastener at the end and several clips along the leading edge of the rubber hood gasket. The intake is underneath the cowling on the passenger side directly above the cabin air filer.

Had a 488 cu in v10 viper. 450hp at the crank stock. Put in 2 K&N and gain documented by factory 10HP at the crank. It was an option including smoother intake tubes. It sounded nice. So you gain how much RWHP and RWTQ on a 3.5? Not worth it unless you like the sound or need every last 1 HP during your drive to the grocery store. After a few 100,000 miles you might have saved some money on replacement filters.

It was looking worse than that at about 10,000mi when I first looked at it, cleaned out the big bits, and blew some compressed air though the back side to limp me along until I finally made a decision to go with the K&N.
