Alright I’ve procured my 3rd gen and the work is beginning!
Disclaimer: I’ve never owned a truck with a cap/topper before.

I’m targeting an ARE or Leer truck cap, but I want a full length roof rack, and my one small concern is that I want it all to be the same height off the truck for the full length, but I don’t want that height to be “tall”. I’ve seen a couple toppers/caps that have quite tall rack bars.

I’m sure one of the answers in here is going to be a Prinsu, and if that’s the answer I’m fine with that. I might be able to get away with a little less full coverage, so long as I have the bars for mounting and carrying stuff? but what I don’t understand is how that mounts to the truck cap? Do I need a specific model /rack option on the cap itself?

I like the ARE overland shell, as an example- but when I buy it do I need specific options to accommodate the above? Just trying to understand the overall picture before I pull the trigger on a specific cap. Thanks!
