Hey guys got a 2006 corolla XRS (that's the 2zz-ge engine) the other weekend. Damn thing threw a code (p0505) and while I was fucking around with the throttle manifold off I saw this in the intake manifold

If you blow it up you'll notice a good sized oil puddle in there.

Anyone with experience know what I could be running into? Piston rings maybe? Maybe I just need to readjust the valves?

It's been so long since I actually tried to troubleshoot a gas engine I'm losing my basics here....

All motors have blowby, and its recirculated into the intake, finding oil is normal, not large amounts of course.

That motor is famously weak and prone to failure though. This includes oil burning and bearing failure.

The oil from the PCV may have affected the IAC in the throttle. Start by simply cleaning the throttle and IAC. Otherwise I would suggest trying to find a used one at a wrecker.

Ah. Yeah I had read that some of the earlier models were prone to oil pump failure. You saying that the bottom end bearings are prone to failure as well? I hadnt heard that yet.
That throttle body is rebuilt, shiny new, looks like the IAC is an aftermarket one which is probably why it's throwing the code I figure...

Normally the blowby gases in the crankcase are circulated into the intake manifold via the PCV line. How long ago was the PCV valve replaced?
