I live in NH, so some hills around me. I drive about 40 mile a day with 1 stop light. Stock Sport DCSB MT I easily got 22's to 24's mpg in summer and do not drive like a baby. I just put on 265-70-r17's and now I ma getting 20's to 21's. This i according to my calcs and my computer as well. Why the fuck would I lie about this :notsure:. What purpose would it serve me or anyone else to lie about the MPG's :jerkoff:

How do you track it? Are you using an app and manually entering the numbers or is there some kind of device that plugs in and reads the info it’s self?

(should have clarified that its my average not actual) I get the same sometimes worse, a quick beer run could be 6 mpg ha!. 18-19 is because during the week im getting good mpg the 22-23. The weekend always drops my average.

Manually entering the numbers into the app after each fuel up. You enter odometer, gallons used, price per gallon. Really easy and a great way to see what the average mpg per tankfull is.

I live in southern Idaho elevation about 3800'. We have mountains all around that average up to about 9000' elevation. I have about 15k miles on my truck now so feel it's broken in for driving. In the summer I average about 21.7 - 22.4 mpg. Have had it since April 2018. Right now with winter blend fuel, I am getting a steady 20 mpg. Drive the same daily. Work drive is about 13 miles one way averaging from 20-60 mph with about 7 stop lights.

Truck is lifted with OME 888s, 5100's all around and Dakar HD leafs. I also added a tonneau cover (about 50lbs) and the Pro skid plate. My rims are aftermarket FN FX Pro so they are about 4lbs lighter each than the stock Sport rims. Still have the factory tires on. Did the TSB update for the transmission a few months ago.

That's not the point. The point is, there's no two that are in the exact same situation, so it'll never be accurate.

That is true, no two trucks will be in the exact same situation. I think If you have a stock truck and get the average through out a year then it will be very close to anyone’s else’s average. If you add more weight you will be a bit lower then everyone else, if you did some weight reduction then you will be a bit higher. But over all the average will be very close.

"Real-world conditions" are different for everybody. In the roughly 6k miles since I got my truck, it has not once been over 50 miles per hour. It has never been in 6th gear, nor has it sat in traffic. Traffic to me is when I get behind one of the local farmers moving a combine. Or maybe when I have to wait for somebody that can't fit across the bridge with oncoming traffic for some reason, such as pulling a wide trailer. My ride to work is about 13 miles on 2-lane county roads, and another 7 miles on narrow, windy roads going over the mountain.

I was averaging a tick over 20 mpg until the past 2 weeks, when I guess my local gas station switched to the winter gas. Now my mileage has dropped off to right around 19 mpg.

That’s not the point. The point is to at least track your miles instead of pulling a number out of your ass. Doing it pretty religiously for a few thousand miles will give you a decent view of how the truck is handling your driving habits.

When someone asks you a question, you have a good data point handy.

You can fill in the details of lifts, big ass wheels and the weight of other mods during the discussion. A before and after mods set of data points would be especially helpful, but most people don’t do that.

I agree that looking at the Fuelly database doesn’t give you any pivots on the data so you can tell who is stock, and who isn’t, but that should not prevent you from tracking you mileage if desired. For comparison, here’s my 4Runner.

I've been on this site a very long time. Nobody reduces weight. Over the years, it's ballooned. If it's not bumpers, it's big tires, or RTTs or rotopax, or shovel's and high lifts.

I wasn't saying your numbers are not accurate. I'm saying comparing fuel mileage online is not accurate because of the tens of thousands of factors.

Well, I’m no expert on statistics. Hated that fucking class. But the discussions here about mpg are worse. It’s rare to see a meaningful set of data points.

23/24 average mpg. 27mpg long highway trips. 2017 SR MT 4 banger. 17,000 miles. I calculate every tankful.

Original tires. I shift it focusing on moderate performance, not trying to maximum mpg. I wind it up when I need to, and sometimes just for fun.

The lifted 2.7/4.0 2nd gens getting better than that may be for real then. Heck I've had 4.0 4x4 Frontier guys tell me they average 23mpg in a truck notorious for shit mileage.
Maybe some guys just get the perfect assembly of components that yield a "best-case" drive-train. :notsure:

Gave the MT Tacoma a good run yesterday. From New England to Washington DC through a Northeaster wind and rain storm. The truck performed magnificently. It handled the Interstate more like an old fashioned “land yacht” sedan only with a better stance and seating position.
This vehicle is much more than a pickup. It is amazing.
And, I got 26.77 mpg on the trip.
