I'm looking for a local source for a new CV axle an also a source to rebuild/replace a torn boot. Which dealership parts department are you sold on, and where do you get your CVS worked on? I can install a new one I just don't want to deal with a rebuild.

You have a couple options. Replace entire shaft w aftermarket (cheapest & fastest), replace entire shaft w OEM ($$ and unnecessary), replace boot w OEM (best option IMO). The aftermarket boots/shafts are nowhere near the quality of OEM, and will probably only last 1-3 years depending on your use. The OEM boot kit (I use Camelback Toyota) contains the boot, c-clip, bands/clamps, and correct grease for your application.

I don’t normally have time to do any work for others (I have 3 Toyotas that keep me busy) but if you cant find anyone to replace a boot send a PM.

I would recommend rebooting it on your own. It's easy as hell. In fact, I just rebooted mine yesterday and start to finish it took maybe 2.5 hours, and that included getting the CV axle out of the truck and putting it back in. Actually made a video about it with @boogie3478 that'll he'll likely post in a few days.

Well I've decided to reboot. I'm also going to pick up a new OEM CV axle at Camelback Toyota. If the reboot goes easy I'll return the the axle. If it becomes a problem I'll work on it later and have a spare axle ready for the inevitable. The OEM axle is PRICEY, but I don't want to have to do this again in a couple months cause I bought a cheap AutoZone remanufactured unit.

I'm looking forward to seeing your video. With that and YouTube I'll probably be ok.

I bought a complete CV shaft for $39.99 from rock auto put that in and now I can reboot my OEM at my leisure. Its been 2 years and the cheap CV is still in and its just fine. Some day Ill rebuild my OEM's

Latest update. I bought a NAPA parts "new" CV axle and installed it yesterday. It was way easier to do than I thought it would be. I picked up the boot kit from Camelback Toyota and will do that job in the next couple weeks. I'll haul the spare around with me when I go camping or wheeling.
