Silica/dust on the dry rocks would be the only thing I could come up with that might cause that. Even then, that's a bit of a stretch.

Yeah you're really reaching for something there. It's not even like the trails were 100% dry. The last trail we went on where Levi busted his tcase open for the second time, Geoff tried an obstacle that was pretty damn dry and the tires just would not hook up. It wasnt a clearance problem or a wheelbase problem but very clearly a tire problem. He gave up then Levi came up the exact same spot and got further until he once again high centered the truck and couldn't get over it but it was very clearly not a tire problem. Although we didn't take the same line as they tried, right after Levi, old man Mike came up on his small KO2s and looked like one of the most competent tires I'd seen all day then I came up on my grooved TSLs and had very little traction problems. It wasnt an exact apples for apples comparison but after wheeling for 2 solid days and having the pleasure of spotting multiple people multiple times, there were a few things that were clear and one of those things was Geoffs tires were holding him back instead of helping him like the last trip when it was sloppy as fuck. I watched KM2s, KO2s, TSLs and Iroks outshine the TOYOs all day. Only tire that was significantly worse than his was those shit ass hummer tires that are completely useless unless taking the business end of an IED to save lives.

Good summary! I knew the toyos weren't the best when I bought them, I needed a compromise offroad/onroad tire since I drive forever to wheel. Just odd that the terrian they are supposidly the worse in they are great. Oh well, time to ponder what to do to my truck this winter!

Maybe I'm more anal about running stupid low air pressures in the wet and not so much in the dry?? I was down around 2 to 4psi at AOP in the wet and this weekend at Harlan. I don't think I went that low at AOP in the dry, more around 6-8ish if I remember correctly
