    Hello, Burtman here from NE FL. Have had a 05 Tacoma since new. It has 183000 mile on it. First time I have had a code. PID P0420. Have a scanner and software and have data loged it. problem is I don't know what the data is telling me?????????


    How do I respond to a post? I don't see a reply button!

    It's your bank 1 catalytic converter that has failed. There is no cheap fix, and throwing o2 sensors at it wont fix it. Do a search for P0420 and you'll see you're not alone.

    Honestly I would just leave it, its an emission code failure and typically has no effect on performance.

    It appears to be a cat. And although performance is not affected by this, do the environment a favor and get it remedied if you can. It's not a cheap fix, but if you take care of it now you will be likely be good for another 150k+ miles. Catalytic converters are a wear item despite what others may say.
