Dealer owes my money.

I picked up my Tacoma on Monday a week ago from Toyota of Braintree in Braintree, MA.

First, they overcharged for taxes by $62.50 because they didn't subtract out my trade from the total taxable in the contract.

Second, the inspection sticker was listed on the contract for $35. They were unable to do an inspection because of the timing of when the truck was paid for and the when it was registered and the in-house inspection folks went home.

They assured me that they would send a check the following day.
Here it is a week later, no check in the mail. This is the shittiest dealer I've ever dealt with.

What are my options to collect my money?

 

How far away is the dealer, I would go in and speak to a manager about it. I'm sure they have the capability to issue you a check in person.

 

It can take as long as a month.

 

Usually takes a couple of weeks to get a check. Patience.

 

I got a refund check a week or so after I got my truck too. No big deal. You shouldn't have bought a new truck if you cant wait a couple weeks for $97 bucks.

 

Sometimes they leave the check at the front desk or the cashiers office and forget to mail it. Mine did that to me last week but they owned me $9,580

 

Just go and talk to the mgr. I know most of us see them as evil but most dealers will understand.

When we bought our Denali last year, similar thing ....Finance had charged us some stuff (registration related) which we caught later.
Went back couple of weeks later (dealer was 90 miles away) but they did refund us the check in the mail.

The caveat was it took them 6 weeks to mail out the check ..LOL. But we did get it.

 

Have you followed up with them before venting on here? Payroll and reimbursements take time, it could be fast or it could take a couple of weeks.

Currently working Finance and Accounting: Depending on the system they use, it can take up to a couple of weeks to process checks to creditors.

Last company I worked for only did check rolls 2 times a month, then Chase took a week on their end, then the mail took a few days.

 

They probably only cut checks every other week, once a week, once a month, etc. depending on how their accounting department does it. I'm sure they've got you in the system ready to send a check out to as soon as that time comes. Most every accounting dept. I've worked with does it this way, it's rare they'll cut someone a check outside of that schedule...the guy that told you that either carelessly misspoke or wasn't aware of the process.

 

It's not about the money, it's only $97; it's the principle.
I hate being lied to, they assured me that they would send the check out the following day. I tend to work myself up about little things but lack of common courtesy really pisses me off.

In all fairness, it would irritate me too if they promised a next day payment and it wasn't there yet.

That said, we finance types want to murder the shit out of our sales and product teams for what they promise they can deliver to customers and vendors sometimes.

 

Must suck dealing with AHoles in the eastern part of the state!

Most businesses dedicate manpower to bringing money in, and intentionally slow down paying money out. Owe the dealer $97 and watch how quickly they hound you.

Throwing the whole 'lying' thing out there really casts the dealership in a bad light. I can assure you they'd tell you the preferred nomenclature is 'over-promising and under-delivering'.

Anyway, life's too short to sweat $3 dollars shy of a lap dance. Enjoy the new truck instead.
