Oh, relocating the rails does not require drilling.Bak has some handy brackets that relocate the rails with out drilling. You only have to drill, if you want, for the drain tubes. I have been in some rain storms and I am damed if I ever seen any thing drain out of the "drain tubes." I wouldn't even drill the two holes in the plastic bed for the "drain tubes" if I was to install this cover again.

I didn't drill. Just found some barbed plastic pipe fittings that went to threads, threaded in a brass barbed fitting- the barbs fit through the existing holes in the bed. The water flow of those drain tubes isn't enough to require 1/2" holes...

As for the Bakflip- I cannot recommend it. Mine leaked no matter how much I tried to get the rails to seal. Also, one of the panels became water logged- I took it off, it's been sitting in my shed since. Anyone want to buy it? LOL

The Encore install requires temporary removal of OEM rails. The Encore cover rails mount to bed using brackets that bolt into OEM threaded rail holes using provided HW.

The OEM rails, then mount to new holes in brackets using provided HW.

The drilling is specific to the drain tubes, but optional. I chose to run tubes under bed mat. No drilling, no water.

Relocation of the rails with those brackets reduces the load the rail can take. It also moves the rail further into the bed, reducing cargo area.(not by much I admit). It was a huge non starter for me on my tonneau choice.

Amazon shipped me the solid fold......

    1. The Solid Fold 2.0 sat higher on the bed, but that was ok.
    2. It connected on the rails which consumed a modest amount of rail space, but that was ok.
    3. It did not allow access to area closest to the cab which was not ok.
    4. Amazon offered me $300 refund plus $100 inconvenience credit to keep it which made #3 OK.

But alas, the cover was for a 70" wide truck and I could not keep the Sold Fold 2.0 and the $300 refund, but kept the $100 courtesy credit.

I'm absolutely not worried about the brackets not being able to hold the load I would put on the relocated rails. The OEM position and fasteners were not something I had the most confidence in anyways.

If it's a heavy load, I figure I'll use the more beefy bed tie downs.

If anyone has info on whether those tie to steel etc that would be helpful info.
