The problem with America is we have a growing portion of the population who live in a "bubble" and they don't have the faintest concept of "other people" and that life carries with it responsibility and consequences. And this isn't an indictment of the young woman who was driving per say. Its an indictment on a society that continues to excuse peoples personal choices and the direct results of those decisions.

Exactly. Personal responsibility and the smallest amount of care, or rather the lack of both.

Sort of the way that every new car that we have gets a massive door ding within the first month. Somehow the Taco has been spared so far.

Parents knew it was a problem, but our lovely public school bureaucracy waited until 3 kids got killed to do something about it. This is probably my biggest frustration.

I sincerely wish we could band together as a community to get things done BEFORE bad things happen, but unfortunately that's usually not how it works.

The mob mentality of some people making ignorant statements reminds me that we are a few fools away from burning people as "witches" again.

Nice. I’ve had a rant or two about city planners, engineers etc most definitely needed to be held accountable and made to be an example so a lot of this dumb shit gets rectified. I’m not into law or big government, but some people need their dicks punched.

Or a ban. Especially the automatics. No one should have that much firepower.

    Speaking of fools
We live in a society where everyone either over medicated, drunk or high, this is why a simple concept of “actions have consequences” escapes most people

Nope. Someone made a tasteless too soon joke about if the truck was totaled. Thankfully, it got removed.

Stat this morning after 2 more incidents on Thursday...

Estimated 84,000 illegal passing of school buses which is estimated at 15 million violation in a school year.
References to new incidents are in the "wtf " thread.:( just gets more sad each and everyday.

Unfortunately, it takes accidents like these for change to happen. I'm sure there will be strong discussion with legal teams for change. I remember years ago there were tons of accidents involving drivers on highways driving wrecklessly and hitting road workers and now you see signs for minimum years in jail and fines posted all over construction zones.

Except around here they will leave the construction signs up, including the flagger ahead sign, 24/7 even when there is zero construction going on. Freaking infuriates me because you just slowed to a crawl and found no one working or anything even near the road. Yeah, no big deal about slowing down, but they are training folks to not care about the signs when there folks should be cautious.
