You guys are good ad this stuff, so I will ask here. I have one of those million-in-one shitty tool kits that I got from Costco, and surprisingly the tools themselves work pretty well and I use the kit all the time. The problem is the garbage, blow-molded plastic case the tools came in. It has cracked completely on both hinges and on the locks so it is impossible to carry unless it's in 3 pieces which is a huge pain. If I buy hinges they will end up costing more than the damn tool kit is worth. Also, I know I can just toss them and buy a quality set but I hate wasting perfctly good stuff for no reason. I was thinking maybe velcro straps? Zip ties somehow? I don't care how ghetto it is as long as it works. Any ideas?

Velcro straps likely the simplest and most reusable? Small squares on the box itself to keep the straps aligned while traveling if needed.

I didn't think about that. Does JB weld work on that thin junky plastic?

sure. It's great at bonding plastic to metal. If the old hinges are still there you can just weld it together with the stuff. Apply liberally and give it time to cure.

I have 1/16 rubber gasket material i make hinges out of all the time. Use a good adhesive. Mines fabric reinforced, but for your app anything will do. Might even be able to pop rivet in place depending on how much room you have

    This

and socket organizers from harbor freight as well. They have bigger ones for cheap with a 20% off coupon. I have one with jumper cables inside since the clear plastic bag they come in don't last. I have another with tire cables. Another with lockout tools for when friends and family lock themselves out. Another one with some first aid stuff that I spray painted a red cross on.

Very good for organizing tools and gear in general.
