I picked one up too. I don't plan on using it. I got it just in case someone needs it.

The Baofeng UV-5R is popular and affordable. I have two extra in case we need them.

@realsystem - We typically use 146.460, which is the standard for off road. The last time I went, that channel was being monitored in case anyone needed to call for emergency help. We were asked for call signs. Not a problem if you're licensed. Many of us aren't, and HAM folks don't take kindly to people transmitting illegally.

So, I think we should use a different frequency, possibly an FRS frequency on the UHF band, to avoid any hassle from "the man" while we're communicating on the trail.

Got a good night's sleep, so I updated the first post. Tried to organize the list by making more lists (@Motofox) and adding notes.

Let me know if the are any errors or omissions.

I can most likely meet up Friday morning at Madera.
I'll update when we get closer to middle of the week.

Move me to the Late(r) Friday list. I’m going to wait for my brother and cousin to get off work. Most likely meet you guys at the campsite at around 10-11 pm

Keep those coordinates handy. Hopefully, we'll get one on the list. I'm also going to do a group PM Thursday with my phone number and any other necessary details.
