Tons of info in the 3rd gen forum about shocks for various lifts, how about a recommendation for better shocks for a 17' DCSB OR with no lift?
I won't be lifting my 17' any time soon, probably never. On fast rough dirt roads and even on fast rough paved roads in the hills with lots of up and down and curves, my 17' seems to bounce and roll around more than I'd like, overall I love the truck.
Reading shock warehouse's description of the differences between to bilstein 5100's and the bilstein hd shocks, it seems there's not much difference at all, at least not enough to help with what I'm talking about.
FWIW my tires are general grabber at2's; 245/75-16 E, I run them about 41 psi. My truck seems to me to ride very soft, even with the general E tires at 41 psi.
    So any recommendations gentlemen?

Assume you have your U-bolts tightened to the recommended 56 lb/ft torque? Mine were loose as hell and contributing to a lot of the symptoms above. Even now I find that every 1,000 miles or so they loosen a bit so I just take 5 to retighten.

Thanks for the u-bolt note, I put the sumo springs on a month or so ago to fix the rear bottoming out on rough roads, I guess I could check the bolts, but I don't think that's the issue.
Again, the truck is great, the thought is to try to make the truck more stable going fast on rough roads. I did a search and couldn't find much in the way of answers on upgraded shocks for trucks with no lift.

Pretty sure you can use the Bilstein 5160/6112 combo also without lifting the truck.

Thanks dude, sounds like maybe bilstein 6112 in the front and 5160 in the rear. It'd be great to hear if anyone else did this, but I might go this route even without anyone else's experience.
    Any other thoughts anyone?

I know a few have used it with raising the spring clips up front and an AAL in the rear and have been extremely happy, I'm sure they'll perform just as well set to 0.

Give Marie at headstrong a call to confirm. If that's the way you want to go she can hook you up with a purchase too.

Maybe try your tires at 35 before new shocks?

6112s set at stock (factory) height for no lift. You can adjust them down the road if you decide you want lift. They ride like a dream. Throw some 5160s in the rear with better bump stops -I went with "Super Bumps" from wheelers offroad and I believe they are unparalleled as far as bump stops go.

Yes, this. ^ Airing down helps with bounce and ride quality over all, IMO.
I'd suggest 36-37 PSI, close enough. You could also look into the Hellwig rear swaybar to help with body roll.

Not stock tires, manuf. says my tires can be run up to 80psi, yes, I know, not on a Taco, anyway, I might try lowering the psi, though the truck still sort of wallows around imho even with the tires at 40, thanks guys.
